I still have to find out realistically what pulling force I could get with 14.5HP.

It is not just the HP, but how you reduce the speed. If you 1/2 the speed, the torque will double. If you reduce the speed 6 times, the torque will be times 6 greater. That torque will be on the drum. Then the diameter of the drum has to be considered, and which layer you are pulling from.

I have no idea how to figure the pulling force, say in pounds.

The gear ratio is 29:1, the drum diameter is 4.25" or circumference is 12.95" and it's 10" wide for the first layer.

1 HP = 550 ft lb/s
14.5 HP = 7,975 ft lb/s

So, 14.5 HP(7,975 FT LB/S)
29:1 Gear Ratio
12.95" Drum Circumference

From there I don't know howto find the ft lb/s of pulling force. I'm trying to find an equation to use with Google Search but I have not found it yet.

How do I get a moderator move this to "Build It Yourself"?

As I am not going to use Hydraulics anymore.
