I’m going to try to piece together a poor mans hydraulic top link. I have the JD 3rd scab kit installed on my 2013 3520, so it has the updated hydraulics. I found this cylinder, which I think should work

Anybody have any experience with that cylinder?

What length hoses should I look at getting? Is 2 feet long enough?

What size restrictor should I be looking at?

Any help is appreciated.

You usually get what you pay for...I have one from Agri-supply like in the link...it did not take long for the weld on the rod end (eye) to fail...for me it was no big deal as I needed to cut a couple inches off the rod anyway so it saved me cutting the eye...just had to grind it a bit...

use a piece of wire etc. to gauge your hose lengths...

Buy a cheap (small orifice) restricted fitting and if it's too slow drill it out some...

Good luck...

That cylinder will likely work,
however you are relying on the tractors valve to have no leakage.
Good luck with that. Many top link cylinders will have a lock valve on them which will take the load off your
tractor valves.
As the link posted above has.

Thanks guys.

There isn't a standard length hose for the top link?

Maybe if factory items are used but my install was all custom. i order top link and installed. Then used a spare hose to figure out the length when placing the top link in up and down position on the 3 point. I can share the thread if you want to read it.

I bought mine from Fit Rite. Been in constant use for eight years now. It's a Cat 2 and never been a moments problem.

category 2 hydraulic top link on mine, brand is Maxim , no lock valve on mine and I really don’t think a lock valve should be needed ? The only issue I’ve had was I lost the bushing that converts it to category 1 pretty quick but Fleet Farm sells the bushing for $1.69 so it was no big deal, I’ve just been a little more careful not to loose it again. I find the Hydraulic top link very handy.

"very handy" - yes. In making implement connections. But particularly in fine tuning ground engagement implements. No longer have to go thru the tedious steps to make adjustments. On-the-go adjustments. Adjust until the implement is performing to its maximum.
