Hydraulic top link

Does anyone know whats involved in retrofitting my B2710 with a hydraulic top link? I saw my brother-in-law's old 50 HP Kubota M tractor which has a hydraulic top link plus hydraulic height adjustment. Gotta have it for the box blade!!!! Unless there's too much $$ involved.

I want one too! Do a search for top and tilt and you should find lots of information. Bird did his own on a 2710 and was good enough to share all the details. The down side is the $800-1000 price tag.

You should also check with Gearmore. They make a kit that clamps on to the ROPS.

I've got a few other questions for those of you who have already done TnT conversions. This applies to the 2710/2910 models, and perhaps others as well.

On the top link cylinder, I think you need swivel balls on both ends of the cylinder, just line on both ends of the manual top link. Did you get cylinders pre-fab'd this way or did you add the swivels, and if so how.

One the side cylinder, the fixed lift link has an angled end at the top where it hooks to the lift arm. How did you deal with this? Just ignor it and use a cylinder with straight brackets? Custom make something?

Alan, I used Tisco products and cylinders that were supposedly meant to be used on B8200/B9200 tractors. I had to shorten the top link cylinder, and add some brackets to the side link cylinder to get mine to work the way I wanted it to. From what I've read on the forum, I think GlueGuy is right; you should check with Gearmore. I think they not have a kit for the B2710 that would be better.

I have a silly question for you. How does the TnT affect the lifting of the 3ph arms? I mean the purpose of the hyd toplink is to push or pull the blade forward and back and the side cylinder allows the blade to angle sideways for ditches, crowning etc. I guess I'm not understanding how having the two cylinders attached doesn't affect the normal up and down motion of the 3ph arms? What am I missing?

Grant, it doesn't affect what the 3-point lift arms do, except that, depending on the way it's plumbed, you may not be able to adjust the top link and the 3-point height simultaneously.

I would also check with Gannon/Woods to see if they have a kit for your machine. They offer their "Power Link" kit for many tractors. I am not sure if they have a kit for the 29xx (I have their kit for a L4310.) I would recomend you buy a kit vs trying to piece everything together. My dealer charged $50 for installation of the cylinders, hoses, and 3 spool valves. Best $50 I have ever spent. I think the kit was ~$1000 for 2ea 4" cylinders and 3 valves (top Tilt, and one extra for the box scraper rippers).

Alan, I have a 2910 with a Gearmore supplied T&T kit. Best $700 I've ever spent on farm stuff. Don't leave the barn without one!

On my Gearmore TnT, the top link cylinder has swivels on both ends. The side link cylinder has the brackets angled exactly like the manual link has. The dealer had the original manual links packaged up for me when he delivered the tractor. I took the original fixed side link opposite from the hydralic one off, and replaced it with the manual one that was originally mounted on the other side. Don't know if I'll ever use it, but it allows a little more tip than I would otherwise have (even if it's manual on the one side)./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
