I just added a control valve using power beyond on my kubota l4200 to run a snow plow (angle cylinders). it works but the valve makes an awful constant noise in either direction. any ideas?????

I assume you tapped off the loader valve's PB and that your aux valve also has a PB port that continues the circuit and a return to tank port that goes to the tank.

Are you using single or double acting cylinders? Are they plumbed correctly?

Does the aux valve have a relief? Is it set correctly?

Is the gpm of the aux valve rated to be at least that of your implement pump?

Have you used the correct size hoses to connect into the hydraulic circuit (work port hoses don't matter)?

Eliminating the obvious first.

Haybaler9,
Need a little more info. Mad has covered as he said, the obvious questions.
Which valve is it. What flow rate does the tractor have and at what pressure.

Are you using single or double acting cylinders? Are they plumbed correctly? single

Does the aux valve have a relief? Is it set correctly? it comes set at 1500psi

Is the gpm of the aux valve rated to be at least that of your implement pump? yes

Have you used the correct size hoses to connect into the hydraulic circuit (work port hoses don't matter)? 1/2" the valve has 3/4 inch ports so I used a reducer

7.8 GPM at 2490 PSI

Haybaler9,
Did you check that the valve can be operated with single acting cylinders. Some can not.

Isn't running two single acting cylinders on a plow the same as on double acting cylinder?? The plow wil angle back and forth fine but the noise is so bad. could there be air in the lines??

How do you have the hoses and cylinders configured with respect to the plow?

Usually not a problem with single acting cylinders.

It really sounds like your valve is going into relief. My dozer made howling noise whenever the loader lift was actuated and the problem was the relief on the lift spool (this valve had a relief on each spool).

it does sound like the relief. is it damaged or would adjusting it help??
i hooked the pb up backwards on my first attemp (into the out port instead of in) could that have damaged the valve??

There is nothing in the valve to damage other than o-rings and that is not your problem. The relief may be set too low or be damaged. Who manufactured the valve and what model is it? and what are the spool specs (3 or 4 way)?

With the work port hoses disconnected, what happens when you activate the spool? Does the system just grunt or does the howling start?
