JD 2520
Long story short

I'm buying a JD 2520 and having the dealer add an Eaton Cessna 3 spool valve. I ordered the tractor with power beyond and ordered a power beyond sleeve with the valve.

Mechanic say's that there is no reason to use the power beyond sleeve on the valve. He proposes that he put a T inline before the tractors Power Beyond ports and another in the loaders return line for low pressure return.

Now for the question.

What if any detrimental effects could this type of layout have opposed to running everything in series and using the PB sleeve?

Thanks for any replies.

It you tee in the line before the valve you will rob the oil from the valve and fel will be slower if you are trying to use the aux function at the same time. If you use the power beyond sleeve but with the aux plumbed in before the valve you will have more flow to the aux and less for the fel. there is only so much flow availibly

Teeig into the power beyond circuit is a no-no. Open center hydrualic circuits have valves connected in series. Putting valves in parallel will effectively split the flow between the valves which would make your functions slower.

Teeing into the return to tank line is fine. It is done all the time since this is neutral pressure fluid.

I would be very suspect of this dealer/mechanic. He obviously knows nothing, or at most very little, about tractor hydraulics. Beware. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If you place a "T" to another valve in an open center hydraulic circuit - nothing will work period. When one valve is actuated the fluid will take the path of least resistance right back to the return line.

Use the power beyond and place your circuits in series.

That mechanic knows nothing about how hydraulics work.

Guglio is absolutely right. If you tee into the supply on an open center system, nothing will work because the fluid will flow through the open center of the other valve back to the tank. Don't ask me how I learned this 25 years ago.

Take a look at this POST from when I installed remotes on my 4110. If you are not getting a backhoe then the new valve is the last in the series, so you do not need the PB sleeve. You can just plumb the new valve into the "LOOP" of the power beyond kit, it's just a IN and OUT connection.

Dropped by today and found excess hose coiled up with zip ties and generally shoddy workmanship. Asked them to get it back to stock and let me take care of it, they agreed and seemed to agree that it was best.

As of this afternoon I went back and we appear to be back to square one so I'll likely take delivery in the AM (been waiting too long to stop the deal due to their inability to handle non deere parts and customization).

Funny the salesmen and parts people are much more knowledgeable than any of the other dealerships but I guess the mechanics are just there for the lawn mowers. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks for the replies.

Advice to anyone else in the market try to talk to the mechanics when choosing your dealer.
