My problem is that the 3 pt hitch is very twitchy now. I replaced the fluids and cleaned the filter. There seems to be a point, lets call it X, where if the lever is forward of X the 3 pt hitch LOWERS all the way... And there's a point behind it where the 3 pt hitch RAISES all the way. There's only a VERY VERY tiny place in the middle of the lever's motion that will make it stay in one place and it's basically impossible to get to that point.

I've taken the piston under the seat apart and to my eyes most everything inside looks fine except for the piece in the picture I attached. The 3 pt hitch control lever indirectly pushes on a small external piston that is connected to the internal hydraulic parts in some way, this is the hole that piston extends through. Are there o-rings or things there I should replace? I can't tell.

Any ideas?

The pic should be showing.

Wish I knew . I had a TO- 20 that did the same way.If you pushed the lever down just a little ,the lift would go all the way down. If you started to pull the lever up, the lift would go all the way up. It was very hard to find the spot where the lift would stay in 1 place. I sold the tractor, so, I never knew what was wrong.Hope someone can help you with this. You would think that hyd. fluid is bypassing to cause this.

According to your other thread, it doesn't sound like you had a hydraulics problem until you changed the fluid. Did you use the correct fluid? Possibly there was air in the lines that needed to be purged by raising and lowering.

Well, my first 3pt problem was the friction pad needing to be tightened. Once that was fixed I moved on to other things, and finally just discovered this last issue. It's annoying trying to boxblade when it won't stay at the right level.

I just found another thing I think is odd. Look at this pic below. Notice the red arrow. On the left instance, the round bar coming in from the right almost hits the square metal bar evenly. In the pic on the right notice how the square metal bar has now moved off a little, showing the rusted part where the round metal bar usually rests. The pic on the RIGHT is how I originally discovered it.

Is this supposed to move freely? Or is the round bar supposed to hit the square bar evenly?

Update: The picture below is after I disassembled a portion of the hydraulic assembly. I have the large spring set aside. But please, mention any other things you think are missing. Sorry, I should've taken a pic before I took it apart.

For starters, you have a spring missing.
See this picture

Maybe you took it off to look at the piston, and you knew it was missing..... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Here's a breakdown of a YM2000 which may be similar. Thanks to Hoye Tractor

Sorry, everyone, yes I have that spring. I have disassembled the hydraulic assembly. It is not fully reassembled in that picture.

Thanks.

Did this problem begin before or after you changed the fluid? I wouldn't worry about the position of those parts. They will be wherever they are with the spring missing. You need to answer the first question before anyone can continue trying to troubleshoot this thing.

This problem has always existed. Now that I've fixed the friction plate I've taken one cause away. This tractor had so many things wrong with it I've had a hard time summarizing my current problem.

So, when you changed the fluid and cleaned the screen, it didn't change the condition, right? Could be some trash behind the drop rate lever, I would remove and clean behind that.
