I have a tractor with a factory Japanese loader that I installed a power steering kit on. The dealer that sold me the kit told me to hook the loader and the PS through a distribution block. When I did this my 3 point lift and loader became extremely slow. Sometimes the hydraulics will lock up and nothing will move including the steering until I jerk the steering wheel a few times. Next to the valve under the seat that adjusts hydraullic down speed is a plug. Is this a pressure port? Could I hook the front loader back in it's original position and hook the steering to this port?

Unfortanly I do not know how to fix your hyd. problem. But iI am interested in how the power steering kit works and what kind of tractor you have. Thanks, Bryan.

Of course, it could be a lot of other things. But it sounds to me, like you just might have a air lock in it somewhere. All it takes sometimes is a little air bubble to lock things up, and slow them down. That is where I would look first.

your distribution block is adjusted improperly, you will have to adjust the bypass pressure setting.

I forgot to mention this; the threaded holes for the hydraulic lines on the block are half the size of the original holes on the tractor.

Good question :) can you give me the brand and model #. I would guess it is a dedicated split like 60%/40% or 80%/20%. In other words it takes a specific % of the flow and allocates it for a particular port. Of course when it does that it slows the main flow down so your loader speed goes down. Some are adjustable and you can lower the % it is sending to the power steering. It is done by increasing or decreasing the orifice hole diameter. Usually with a needle valve. If it is not adjustable we will have to put a flow reducer in and see what happens from there.

It is a factory Yanmar add on kit for a 26hp tractor. No instructions came with it, just a drawing of how the parts attached to the tractor. No numbers on the block. The is one place on the block not used. Looks like a hex cap. Don't know if it's another port or some kind of control. Does the fact that I had to reduce the hose ends come into play?

Smaller hose ends do reduce flow but the Yanmar pumps are so small it shouldn’t matter much. Is there any way to scan or fax me the assembly drawing? I imagine you will find a flow adjuster under the hex cap.

I threw the illustration away after I installed it a year ago. It's not on a Yanmar, it's on a Hinomoto E264.
