I've had both the mechanical MIE thumb and now have the hydraulic thumb. I hardly used the mechanical thumb because I also bought a loader mounted log grapple, which covers a lot of the needs that the thumb did. I sold the mechanical thumb to a TBNer and got the hyd thumb to do boulder/rock placement on stone walls etc., so need a bit more precision without all the effort of my own energy. Will state that one needs to be very careful to not bring the hoe bucket back against the hyd thumb when it is extended without due caution otherwise one can, and I did bend the thumb's cylinder into a pretzle.:confused2:
