Hydro strainer, BX2200

Before I remove the Hydro strainer I just wanted to touch base with those of you who have already done so so that I don't screw things up. Is it difficult to remove and re-install...are there groves on the strainer for the O rings that I have to be careful for???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Rosey, I haven't done a BX2200, but I've done that on a B7100 and B2710. I don't know whether you would say it's difficult or not, but they were certainly very tight and you need a large wrench, preferably a socket, to remove them. And before I did it the first time on the B7100, I got new o-rings from the dealer because I was afraid I might damage them. However, I did not damage them and never used the new o-rings. It was all quite simple once they're broken loose.

Assuming that the '2200 is identical to the BX23 in this area, you will need a 26mm socket. Clean the area around the strainer so that dirt doesn't fall into the O-ring groves, and make sure your left rear tire is clean, too. The strainer will come out almost to the tire before it is clear of the pickup tube.

If you are careful, you can keep the pickup tube against the transmission so that you won't have to worry about the inner O-ring unseating. Make sure you know where the outer O-ring is; it may stay in the grove on the pickup tube, or it may come out with the strainer. (Or it may end up in the dirt on your floor!)

I cleaned mine with kerosene and let it air dry, then wrapped in it a paper towel so that I could get it back in place without picking up any dirt, then fed it carefully through the pickup tube and into the transmission.

Pretty easy to work on. Just remember, when your mother told you that "Cleanliness is next to Godliness," she was talking about the insides of your tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
