Hydro to CVT?

Nice write up. I had a feeling if you tried it, you would like it. You also have to remember that the CVT is still new to the compact tractor world. There's still a lot of scepticismen and it's hard for some people to believe that a CVT could out perform a HST.

True, some of the earlier issues didn't help there reputation, but with the improvements that were made and as more and more people such as yourself start to get the word out this will change.

Now, with the debate still raging strong over gear verses HST, I'm sure the CVT will add a third player.

No, not in Hi... In Lo and Med. I can spin the rears on gravel in 2wd Hi with nothing on the 3pt ... But that's about it.

Yeah, rears are loaded.

But enough about my machine, this is about your new toy.

I will admit when I started the thread to get opinions about how people liked the CVT I initially didn't think it would be as efficient as my hydro but kept an open mind. So far I'm glad I did.

In regards to the cup holder I know what you are talking about. I made a cup holder and mounted it on the pillar above the useless one. Keep us updated on how you like or dislike the 55.

I like CVT's, it's great they are getting them perfected in the lower HP tractors...

I don't know how ANYONE can stand that hydro wine for hours at a time? Every one I drive, I'm done with that noise in a few minutes, let alone hours!

With my gear drive tractors, I can set the throttle at fast idle, use the shuttle and load, load after load, quietly and using less fuel.....looks like CVT's are on their way there too!

After seeing the "how slow can you go with a hydro" thread resurrected I thought I would check the CVT and cruise control. Here is 4 minutes of your life you will never get back.

I'd like to try one. But, switching tractors now is not an option.

Hydro is good for me and since I have not tried a CVT, I don't know what I'm missing. This is good for the wallet!

Always nice to have options.

I wasn't actively looking to trade. My dealer is also a customer of mine and had been trying to get me to trade in my tractor for the current one since last summer. I finally told him to shoot me a price and couldn't pass up the deal. Since its a 2015 model he must have been wanting to move it. My hydro had 1,600 trouble free hours over 8 years but was starting to show some wear and tear.

Just a quick addition. Decided to look over the tractor filter locations since I did my own maintenance on my last one. You had to be a contortionist to get to and remove the filters on my 2008. I was pleasantly surprised when I started locating the different filters (and this new one has a bunch). They all have very easy access.

and then I came to the fuel filter. Why would they do this? Luckily it only needs changed every 600 hours. Might be a dealer trip on this one.
