I have an LW-7 back hoe, and have it powered by a Prince 7A pump, same pump as yours, lower flow rate (7 gpm). Works fine, valves are open center.

Glad to hear that you have no problem with the LW-7 back hoe. I also just bought a small 7 GPM pump and will try to sell my 21 GPM on eBay. I hope with this setup the backhoe will finally work.

By the way, I also want to use this pump also for the log splitter.
 Can any one tell me what size oil reservoir I should purchase ?

Good luck with the new pump...

As a general rule of thumb, you should have a tank the same size as the pump is rated for.
