This is might take: I think they all have a little whine, some more than others. However, if you started power one out when loaded heavy, that whine becomes a growl. That is when it is time to let up on the peddle and try something else. Also, as mentioned, if the park brake is set, that will make the hydrostatic growl. Any time you apply power throw the hydrostatic with the engine, you wheels need to turn and/or spin. It don't matter if you moving the tractor or stuck in the mud. If the tractor is under load and you have enough weight that the tractor won't move and/or spin the tires that is when she's really gonna growl. That is when if you don't let up on the hydrostatic peddle and try something different, you run a good chance of damaging the hydrostatic. That when thing get real expensive in a big hurry.
