hydrostatic problems

if the neutral is intermittent, the one thing i can think of which causes this is the cam for the neutral is loose on the trans control shaft. check the clamp bolt is tight (take a torch) and try to see if there is any movement, this will make the neutral move about and you cant adjust it with the adjuster egon mentioned (10mm bolt into a BIG bolt with slot in it, loosen 10mm and turn big bolt with screw driver, have wheels jacked up and engine running fast, 1/8 turn make a huge diffrence)

I'm looking for some guidance in getting B7100 HST moving smooothly again. It does not respond to forward or reverse well anymore...before I take it apart, I believe I should take some pressure readings. I've got 3000 hours on this rig. It does not look like an easy job as the tractor has to come apart in the middle. I was thinking of rebuilding the hydro part of the transmission

Les,

I have a 1993 B7100 4x4, I had the exact same problem when I bought mine, I changed all fluid and filters and screens, and it still did not work much better. It ended up being the hydro pump was bad. $2,500 job including a new clutch. I had a dealer do it, should ahve done it myself, oh well, you live and learn.
