hydrostatic vs power reverser?

I had a 3320 ehydro with a loader and 448 bh. It was ok but I just prefer the PR tranny for loader work. Personal preference.:)

I am really thinking about upgrading my 4120 open station to a 4720 cab. I will be forced into ehydro and will have to learn to love it.:rolleyes:

If you do make the move to a 4720 cab I think you will be very happy with how responsive the higher hp tractor is. I can say there is a big difference between my 110tlb with 43 hp and the 4520 that is 3000 lbs lighter and 60 hp.

Double what??? We need to start a pole and see how many have EVER double clutched anything!!! ;)

Old school stuff. When your as old as dirt double clutching was the standard practice to save the gear shavings.
Hydro whine must be cool for the up and comers. Remember when you don't have enough power to spin the big tires when it gets a little muddy real transmissions keep them going.
My tc 45 was the classic example. After 300 hours it was time for a change and I never looked back. I'm sure glad the hydro has followers otherwise the resale would have really been poor. I don't know whats good for me but I sure like it this way.
By the way... my vette has a four speed ( no shuttle ) and I'm amazed they put an automatic behind 425 ponies in 1966. I would have had little interest in driving one.

Come on... real old school was "no clutch"! My 'ol man drove truck. And he hardly ever used the clutch after he got rolling. It was by ear.. He could/would know by feel and experience what the tranny and drivelive were spinning at and he'd feather the throttle to the right rpm and "slip that baby in"!! Without a hitch 99% of the time!

I played at tryin' to shift like that.. but, it wasn't as easy as it looked! And those big rigs are really unforgiving when you miss a gear!

But, after driving my Allison tranny and my eHydro tractor - all that shifting is more nuisance than "fun".

(Wonder if they could bolt the Allison into a Vette....?) Have to retrofit one of those "paddle shifter" doddle-hickey's to the steering wheel! :D
