Mrcaptainbob.. i thought i saw your name earlier.. you built the Catdigger ... just have some info for people who work around hydraulics and aren't quite sure of the problems that can happen if things are not installed properly, you installed flow meters in the cylinders to control speed which is ok to do if they are installed properly, please take a look at the video and see what happens if they are NOT installed properly,

Common sense goes a long way. It is well understood that if you block the flow of hyd fluid, something has to give, and it could be hoses, valves, cyl, etc. Danger is around us all the time, and one as to be observant of his surrounding in order not to be including in the accident. You have no idea that your tractor pump or hose is going to explode and spray you in the face. There have been reports from members here about pumps bursting open, others talk about hose bursting, and even cylinders coming apart. So it does happen. Hopefully, no one was injured . Most of those events are called accidents. For the most part, we assume that things should work normally. That the relief valves will work. That the hoses will maintain pressure, and the fact that you know what to do if it does happen. Just don't every think that is could never happen to you, it can.

Nice catch....good video......and like the Aussie says, the bigger rod diameter, the more pressure itensification........

There are a applications that require meter out flow control....when external forces from gravity/inertia comes in to play....other than that meter in is preferred....

What a great video! Thanks for posting that!! And you are correct, Glastron, I do have flow restrictors on that Cad Digger. Although it's been like that for almost 15 years, I will check to see which side they are on. I do believe I put them on the goesinto side. My thinking was to restrict the flow going in, rather than what was coming out. The restirctors are nothing more than in line brass valves that can be adjusted for controlling the speed, not the pressure. Although I do understand the pressure still builds in that valve. I will check on them in the spring when I get it back running with a new engine. Sure appreciate the cautions.
As for the original post, the info on the brass plate is HYM-N2R-4X18,
1E7405-595-2B. Is HYM a brand name? I know the 4x18 means bore x stroke, would N2R be a model?

that's a great program there i know of similar programs for electronics but i never seen this........i like it
