Alan L, I'm with you. I love pasture mowing. You can kinda drift off into your own little world until the tractor rolls off a small ridge or drops into a hole because you're not paying attention. That tends to bring you back to reality with a bang ... racing pulse, sweating palms, skid marks on shorts. Honestly though, I do find it relaxing for the first couple of hours but the longer it goes on the more like work it gets. If I do make it to 6-8 hours, I'm usually so beat up that I'm useless the next day. The ol' back isn't what it used to be.
Cutting the yard with the B2400, now I enjoy that. Take it slow and steady and just piddle away the day. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

That's for sure. The last pasture I mowed for someone else was 22 hours on the meter in 2 days; sure makes you glad to see the end of that job.

The nicest thing about mowing is that you can see such an extraordinary difference when you're done. It feels so effective. Everything looks so new and clean. Like you've accomplished something. Then two days later you're looking at the grass and saying, "Didn't I just mow that?"

I've enjoyed mowing since I got an LT to replace the walk behind.

Junkman,

I have not had my MMM off since I took delivery a year ago. I've had the BH off & on several times. Yeah, sometimes it gets in the way, but I don't have a concrete floor to take it off on. I guess I could take it off in the gravel driveway, but I did not want to wrestle with it. So it stays on the year round.

I look forward to a new garage/workshop sometime in the next few months - - got the green light. All I need is the green!

MOST of the time i can enjoy it or at least not hate it, but after being gone 8 days and having it out of hand, trying to get it all done before it rains again can be a hassle. or if there is something else i want to do but need to cut the grass it makes for an unhappy camper, but on the whole i don't mind cutting grass.

I know what you mean about the love for mowing the grass. I finally got my 6'MMM up and running again. I mowed my fields tonight in 1/4 the time it took my 18 horse 54" rider to do it in. The grass was 8-12 inches long and I could cut a 6' path with the Cub. My rider could only take a 1/3 of that kind of grass. This is just great. Now I will have more time to do some other things I need to do. I sure am glad I bought this machine now.

The enjoyment factor is dependent upon my "to do" list. I always like seat time, but enjoy it more when there aren't a lot of other things waiting in line to be done. A few times each Summer I get the bush hog out of mothballs and beat the wilderness back down. That's always fun for a few hours - the work is usually finished before I want it to be.............chim

When I was growing up I had to cut an acre of grass every week with a push mower plus three neighbors that I cut for spending money. During that time, I hated to cut grass. My Dad always said that we could not aford a riding mower but a week after I moved out he bought one. Now that I can afford a riding mower I love to cut grass. My oldest son lives about 8 miles from me in an appartment and he stops by almost every weekend with the hopes that he can get to the Kubota before me. He likes to cut grass also. It must be in the genes!

Chim...can't help but ask...When might that be??? Seems like never is the answer around here. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That being said, I consider grass cutting "break time" and don't count it as work. I did not even realize this until today when my daugher's boyfriend asked me what I got done today, and I said this and that, but never mentioned [or even remembered] that I cut the grass [short weeds] too.

Later I had to report that I had also cut the grass. Never hurts to take all the credit you can get, right? Who are they to know it is pleasure rather than pain... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've always enjoyed cutting the grass. Consequently my 15 year old son was asked to cut the neighbors grass a few weeks ago while they were going on vacation and I was not comfortable without giving him a lesson. Since I enjoy it, he has only gotten to do it about twice in the last few years. So I took him out gave him a crash course in our lawn then went to the neighbors with him and directed the cut so that everything would look decent.

Since I have had him cut our lawn the last two weeks and intend to keep it up some this Summer as I realized I was doing him a dis-service by not passing on this enjoyable activity (both tractoring and grass cutting) and teaching him valuable lessons.

Disclaimer, the above statements about enjoying grass cutting only qualify when I have the proper grass cutting equipment (NOT THE PUSH MOWER). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
