I was putting the tractor away after 4 or 5 hours of work today. When we built the barn we had to dig out a level spot. This left a rather steep slope on two sides. One of which has a barn door facing it.
Anyway, I was driving the tractor inside the barn to park it. Completly under control with the HST and the engine rpm slow. I was approaching the barn at a slow pace controlling the speed with the HST when SUDDEN ACCELERATION HAPPENED.
The rpm didn't change. No clank or pop was heard. The tractor just went forward quickly on its own.
STAB THE BRAKES!!!
After a jolting stop (Thank you brakes) I looked behind for a clue as to what happened. There was nothing there. The HST pedal didn't work.
The L-M-H lever shifted to netural and the tractor free coasted down hill.
Fortunately the barn door was open because the bucket was inside by at least 2 feet. I have been known to approach the barn with the door closed and stop a few feet short to open it. Not again.
p.s. I won't reply for a while since I will be at the races for a week.
