I sometimes carry a kel tec in .32acp in a pocket/wallet style holster due to the gun's sub compact and super small frame.

I just looked at that gun. Very nice, lightweight and small. I see they have one in .380, too, that is almost identical in size and weight.

The only thing I don't like about a small semi-auto is that you have to keep it cocked and know where the safety is, or you have to slide it, and that takes time. That is where training and practice comes in and my comments regarding being a good shot with your weapon. That means training with it on a regular basis. With a double action revolver, there is no safety, it is always ready to fire, less to remember when bringing it on target, etc... I am quite fond of my High Standard 9 shot 22mag revolvers. My wife can fire them with ease. Training is more about safety than mechanical operation. But even the snubby is a brick, even for a 22. And the hammer could get caught on something when pulling it out, etc.. and it isn't any more concelable than a 38 revolver, but it does have 9 shots.

If I were a carrying type person, I'd seriously look at that Kel Tec. Thanks for the info.

The Kel tec is DAO, just like a revolver.

My wife has a taurus ? 85.. it has the recessed hammer and is thus DAO.. good lightweight 38. We also have a smith in .38 with a bobbed hammer.. but it is as heavy as a framing hammer.. so she won't carry it.. thus it sets in apocket sewn into the bedskirt on my side of the bed..

I am fond of the Taurus 85 and some of it's variations. I've owned several, one of them for about 15 years. Very good for what they're intended to be. They make some very light and ultralight models....one I looked at recently was something like 15 oz. The CH models are concealed hammer, nothing to hang up when coming out of a pocket.

Ton's of good information on this thread. I do agree with many of you and carry with what YOU feel confident in. I am a big believer in stopping power, which is why I love the .45 round, only if you are using a good quality round. I have seen some JHP(jacketed hollow point) ammo that failed to open to cause maximum damage and never use reloads. I carry a S&W 4566TSW for duty use, but have the S&W 4513 for off duty conceal carry, but I Love my Springfield XD45 nothing like 13 rounds of 45 ammo to do some damage and the XD45 is just a sweet shooting gun. The most important thing I could give to anyone with firearms, and I am an instructor, is having something you feel comfortable with that fits your grip and something you have confidence in. I would not go under a .380 round though you want a round with some stopping power. Above all shooting is a perishable skill and if you do not practice your efficiency goes down.

Check out the Kahr CW9, which is an economy version of the pm9. It's not really fair to call it economy, as it is a very fine pistol. I've shot it, a
Taurus Millinium, and the Kel-tec .380, and all are good. The Taurus is the bulkiest and shoots well. The Kahr is very thin and shoots like a dream, silky smooth. The Ket-tec is tiny and carries easy, but can be difficult to shoot/control. Because of its light weight it is susceptible to limp wristing which causes stovepipe jams. At least, that happens to me more often than Id like. I don't think you can go wrong with a Kahr.
