I would hunt for my food, but i don't know where sandwiches live.
You just can't beat moosemeat. So sweet and tender. The only thing I ever made with caribou was jerky.
When my parents and 2 younger brothers all lived in Anchorage, the did quite a bit of hunting and fishing. And the first time I visited up there, my brother gave me a stick of baloney made from caribou; best baloney I ever ate. And as you said, moose was very good steaks and roasts.
It's those four legged animals running around out back that the goberment owns, that = venison!
I do like to add a little ground pork to it though...

They make it up with $10/lb. ribeyes.
Man, that is cheep! That's almost what they sell for per pound on the hoof.
I'm moving to Indiana!!!!It's way cheaper once you figure in processing per pound.
This place is something. It's a small, 4 isle grocery store. The butcher counter takes up the entire back wall, probably 40'. There's easily 8-9 butchers in there and another 10 counter people. Take a number. You'll be lucky if there's only 25 people in front of you! We've been there with as many as 40 in front of us. Worth the wait.
Last time we were there, we bought the whole ribeye, about 20 pounds, 20 pounds of bacon, 20 pounds of split chicken breasts, 10 pounds of tilapia, 10 pounds of riblets (man, they were good!), and 10 pounds of chicken wings. We take everything home and vacuum pack it all in 2 person and single servings, then rotate it in the freezer with anything that's left. Almost all we ever buy at the grocery store is veggies, cheese, milk and eggs.... and beer.
Food is expensive in Maine. But my taxes are $700 a year for my house on 26 acres. Most people can’t say that.I'm moving to Indiana!!!!
