Oh, it makes me so sad to learn of your loss...but it's not "just a dog" as you say...our pets are family to us and unlike the humans in our lives, our pets love us unconditionally and without reservation. Posting your experience must have been very difficult for you to do, but it will make the rest of us more careful and possibly prevent another needless death. Thank you for sharing your story, as heartbreaking as it is.

Thanks for the kind words. And yeah, if it helps anyone to be a bit more careful, that's a good thing. It actually helped me to post it. I know a lot of the members here are dog lovers and/or just good people, so it seemed appropriate.

They aare not "just a dog", they are family. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to you and your wife. I am not quite sure how you managed to get through typing to post about it. I'm not sure that I could have seen through the tears. I think many of us understand and share your pain.

Thank you, and yes there were plenty of tears yesterday (a few this morning, but I told my wife it was the ceiling fan bothering my eyes. )

Sorry about that Jay. Nothing to do about it really. It would be normal for your other dog to go through a period of depression, so you will have to double up on spoiling that one.

So sorry for your loss but you still have one. Times like these are very tough but the people on here can and are very supportive. They helped me out more than I would have believed when our Sofi died. Again I am very sorry

My son came to visit from CA. As we were heading out to the airport in 2 vehicles our little papillon watched the first car go and slipped in the way of the second car. A sad day. My sympathies to you on your loss.
