I managed to bend my steering/connecting rod pretty bad yesterday by getting hung up on an old stump. Everything seems to work okay other than when my right tire is pointed straight my left tire is pointed to the left. Is part #35 probably all I need? It shows it in two pieces in the diagram, but it is a one piece rod.

Also, does anyone know of a place online that might be a little cheaper than the dealers?

Do you have a hydraulic press or know someone that has one, you may be able to straighten the one you have. Also a local machine shop may be able to help you. It is one piece, it is just the way it is drawn that makes it look like two.

unless i'm missing something.. that just looks like a draglink rod to me. IE.. piece of tube and tie rod ends.

I usually MAKE those for my tractors when I get one come in bent..

I'd have no qualms torching a new tube section int he middle and joining the ends

That is indeed what it is, but I do not have the tools nor the expertise to accomplish this task. It is $134 at the local dealer. I plan to pick up the part Thursday.

if you own a tractor.. it might be time to own a welder.. if you own a welder.... a torch is real handy... :)

good luck on the repair

I had mine remade at a local metal shop for 30 dollars. He used my ends and ordered the hardened rod for the middle.
