The pic's are a little decieving, by the time I stopped and took a good look at the situation, I noticed my backhoe frame was sunk in when the rear started its decent down, it does not show it in the pics but a 4' bank is also in back of the tractor so the uphill push with the bucket was useless because it I was just pushing the BH frame into the bank. The clearence for the frame mounted BH is only 14" on level ground so I decided to get the shovle. I dont think my arms are long enough to operate the BH and FEL at the same time besides it becomes a safety issue when twisted around in the seat like that and was not worth it to me to risk hurting myself or the tractor when the 4wd pickup and chain were handy. Another thing is the 7308 FEL is not that powerful to begin with and due to the suction from the mud kept poping the relief valve and I did in fact try to lift and roll myself out, so it took a extra 45 mins to do a little digging but the bottom line is the tractor is OK and nobody got hurt in the process and we finished the job. OK OK I will admit by lower back is a little sore from shoveling muck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Boy, I remember that episode!!

I think we were all panicking thinking the tractor would be frozen in there until spring!

That's only because you knew it would leave a great signature on your GPR if it kept going down, letting you play with another toy /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Glad to see you are getting it dirty!

It's like they say.. 4wd just gets you stuck farther from home.

When i had my NH 1920.. i had a mower on back and was crossing a 'dry' pond to get to a neighbors house to mow. Sunk into the axles in muck.. diff and 4wd did nothing.

Had to dig out the tires by hand.. walk to my neighbors house.. get his truck and the ramps from my my trailer and his trailer.. we used those to wedge under the tires, and got it out.. it was quite messy.. and took over an hour. A long tow strap was used from his truck, over to the tail wheel on my mower. Had to use 20' of tow strap.. just to make it where his truck was on stable ground to help pull me.

BTDT. My FEL always got me out, but just barely on an occasion or 2.

Once you sink a little with R4's, give it up and quit digging until the FEL and diff lock are engaged.
