I knew you would wimp out and buy a splitter...................that looks great! Only thing I noticed after I got my splitter (yep I told all my friends that I don't need a splitter and the exercise is good for me) was that I was doing more wood every time I went out to split. So it should be easier than splitting by hand, but you will soon find out that you are not pacing yourself properly. Lots of lifting!

By the way I like the looks of the trailer you have behind the super.

Mornin Wayne,
Yep, the trailer does double duty, either hauling firewood or hauling my Farmalls ! :) Your right about the splitter and carrying the firewood, last night I was wrestling the big bones underneath the vertical lig splitter, today Im sore ! ;)

Congrats Scotty!!

Home Depot does have some great deals from time to time, you just gotta time it just right. Looks like you did just that!! $720 for a 25 ton log splitter and a Honda engine sounds like a steal.

I don't remember seeing your trailer before. It looks like an antique just like the tractor!!! Very cool.

After I got mine I was forced to bring the wife out and show her how great this thing works!

For some reason she didn't get as excited as I did. All of the wood I split this past winter will not be used for about a 1 1/2! I've noticed all of the wood we are burning now isn't split as small as the stuff I did with the splitter! :)

EVENING SCOTT,
What did you go and do a thing like that for? I told you to drive up and borrow mine. You probably could drive to MAINE and back for a couple hundred, wouldnt that be a better bargain?:D
I think I musta stuck this idea in your head, about a splitter, when i showed the pics of mine last week, serves you right, ive been dreaming of a little farmall tractor to fix up,after drooling over your pics.:)
I think you oughta get another farmall to fix up to pull the splitter around the place. You can call the the twins:)how about a take away belt ,run off the farmall,to carry the split pieces right up in the trailer, would be a fun project.
SERIOUSLY though good splitter nice deal .cant wait to see the mods you do to it
If you retire that maul youll have to join a gym to stay in shape:D

Scotty...... you are starting to show your age !!

I remember when i was a teenager.... my dad got his first splitter to handle every winter's firewood. That is what convinced me to buy my own splitter when i started burning wood a few years back. BTW ..... my dads splitter was me ! Congrats ! I will wager the maul won't get alot of use anymore.

Mornin Eddie,
Yeah, the operator is an antique too ! :)

Chad,
Thanks for the link ! I did get the manual but I will file that link away !

Alan,
Yep,I have one Farmall for the trailer and one for the splitter ! :)

Ductape,
Im thinkin the splitter may be in semi-retirement ! ;)

Rob,
Well I could have made one like you would do, but by the time I finish buying all the parts, I dont think I would have saved much ! :) Sometimes its easier this way ! ;)

Someone beat me to it, that is a beauty in the background! Once in a while I do some hand splitting but just to make me happy I have a splitter that doesn't kill me, I will admit that some of the stuff is getting to the point that I have to cut in two to get it up to the splitter so I am getting tired of lifting wood up to it!
