Harv,
I have enjoyed many of you posts and pictures in the past.
(kind of a secret admirer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

BUT now I've got to ask!

How long can you keep it up? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I once had a neighbor that could run, like that, all the way up our road (700 feet).

And even I had my B-2910 in that position once. Just not long enough to get a pic.

SWEET!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But I've got you seriously outgunned...

Only two years younger, but I've got three KTM 640's, two are Adventure bikes and one is LC4 pure dirt bike. Been riding dirt bikes for 40 years now. Get a KTM, you'll be glad you did.

If you want to catch some major ROOST , just stand behind me about 200 feet and the Metzler MCE Karoo 140/80/18 will cover you with dirt!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is a pic of one of them, a 1997 Paris-Dakar Adventure bike I purchased in Austria and had shipped back to the USA in a box crate where I assembled it, a full race long range desert racer bike. The main tank hold 8 gallons and I have two side 5 gallon tanks for a total of 18 gallons!!! Unfortunately, my kidneys can't last that long....... LOL /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

That picture was about an old guy grabbing a grin.

Posting the picture was an old guy grabbing more grins.

I've never been that good on wheelies. I left that up to the pit racers.

It did feel good to get on a bike in the desert again.

The KTM's look like a ton of fun.

Just like riding a bike!

I spent 17 years chasing points in several enduro series. (Great Lakes Region, District 11, District 15 AMA, and a couple others) I LOVED it. The wife didn't. We compromised. I quit and she quit complaining about it.

I started off riding WR Huskys, then in 1982 made the switch to a water cooled CR 250 Honda. Stuck with "ride Red" until 1990 when I got on board a KDX 250 Kawasaki for my last full season. I was "faster" (more consistant/smoother/less crashing) on the 250's. I did one season (1986) on an XR 600 Honda. I travelled with Scott Summers. Scott was multi-time National Hare Scrambles champ. He rode a 600 Honda. I thought it looked easy for him, why not me. Those 600's would about pull a 3-bottom plow. What torque!

In those 17 years, I met lots of interesting people, got to travel to places I'd never have gone otherwise, and had the time of my life. But that life wasn't the life for a young family man. (Or so I was told 3,751,968,921 times [approx.])

Sure miss it still.

Looks like I can see an enormous smile through that full-faced helmet!

Scott Summers was awesome! I've never met him or seen him ride but I've read of many exploits over the years. I saw a picture where he took his 600 (grabbed it by the frame) and lifted it up in front of him with brute strength(holding it out at elbows length). He kicked everybody's *** on a heavy 4 stroke bike when all others rode 2 strokes. We grew up on Yamaha 600's "thumpers". Hopped them all up but no suspension on those old things worth a "flip". Where have I read that before...

I always thought that since we are a bit older now, that flat tracking may come back into fashion, cuz we could still maybe halfways compete like Springer. It hasn't come back here in Texas as far as I know.

The older I get the faster I was.
or,
They say if you look closely, you can see the grass growing under my tires. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

About the time i quit racing, flat tracking was coming back into fashion again in a few areas. District 15 (Indiana) had a full schedule of district points races. Most of the bikes were lowered motocrossers. The 500CC MXERS were beasts!

Summers was in his own world when I was around him. He could throw his 600 farther and faster than most people could ride a dirt bike, He was young and looked like a soap opera star. I got to see him race motocross on his XR a couple times. On a super tight "arenacross" style track, Scott almost lapped everyone in the money class (a local track, but some good riders) It was a 125 style track. He flicked that 260 lb XR through turns like a 16 year old on a 125.

KTM makes an awesome bike - I just sold my 97 620EXC, as I'm spending most of my spare time now on my tractor and 4 wheeler at my property. Plus my daughter never got into 2 wheelers so I bought her a 4 wheeler, so the whole family (Mom, Dad, Son, and Daughter could participate)

The only thing better than riding, is riding with family and friends!

Those KTM's also make great MOTARD racers - or so I'm told.

I still ride street bikes and 4 wheelers, but the ol' knees were taking a beating on the dirt bikes.
