I Can't Believe It Ate The Whole Thing!

When I moved here, I had one push mower, one wheelbarrow, a chipper/shredder and a few shovel/rake/hoe type things.

Now, I have three push mowers, two riding mowers, a field and brush mower, four weedeaters, two chainsaws, more shovel/rake/hoe type things, a tiller, etc. Oh yeah, and the SCUT.

Plus more tools and things to work on them, plus all the gas/fuel cans to quench their thirst.

And there's still stuff sitting outside.

Hahahaha. I have the same dilemma...tools just keep multiplying. For my birthday, received a cordless chainsaw and a cordless weedwhacker/edger. These will join the other 6 weedwhackers and other 6 chainsaws. When you are nearing the end of the row of life, it becomes increasingly hard to buy for...thus, multiples.

I went to an estate auction where the widow was trying to clear out 50+ years of collection by her late husband. Everything he had one of, he had at least 3 spares (most of them not working). He had 5 sheds completely filled with "junk" and a lot of the scrap was copper and aluminum wire which brought a good price, but along with the good scrap was a lot of useless stuff like PVC pipe (he saved everything). I was amazed by the amount of stuff he had accumulated, much of it worthless. When I have something that wears out, I toss it in the garbage, not into a shed to consume space. I guess that is why he had 5 sheds.
He did have some good tools (MAC, Craftsman, Proto etc) that went for peanuts compared to new cost.

I suppose my point is that if you want to recoup any money from your lifetime investment, don't use an auction When you get to a certain age and begin to not need or use your stuff, maybe it is time to put them on Craigslist or ebay rather than wait for the wife to dispose of them after you are gone.

^^^ You might be amazed at some of the stuff I've had for many years that I suddenly find a use for and am mighty glad I kept. Things that cost me almost nothing then that might cost a lot to buy now.

I had a plastic weather proof box that housed some electronics for something I worked on in the 80s. Couple of months back, I needed a box for something electrical that would be outside in the weather. Having forgotten about the one in storage, I started shopping and was seeing prices from $50-$100 or so. A few days later I moved something in the garage and this box was underneath it. Took a few measurements and it was almost exactly the size I needed. Knocked off 30 years of dust and it's now in use.

As far as gaining more space by leaving the BH at left or right full swing, might care to reconsider for long term practice.
We found the hoses starting to show outer casing cracks in the black rubber. No leaks at this time, as we no longer leave BH at these angles.

When in actual use, you bet, we operate this BH at near 100% every time.

Called the LS rep & he suggested to not swing either direction for parking or not in operation.

We really do not know if the extreme swing (long term rest) would result in pressure leakage; but not willing to risk the down time & head stress of replacing those damaged hoses.

It might be good & fun to work w/ son in building his own shed.
Guess there are advantages to having daughters.........

I have owned a backhoe for 34 years (Ford 3400 TLB 33years, Kubota L48 TLB 1yr.)
I have never heard of any reason to avoid leaving the hoe parked in either left, or right, of center.
I usually do relieve the pressure on the valves/hoses when parked, though I am sure any pressure would bleed down over time anyway.

Different feeling here. My barn is over half full of hay and the other has my son's boat and his waverunner and sea do. My John Deere dozer and my new LS XR4150 is setting outside. I am going to have to build him a shed so I can store my stuff. I need a Pepto Bismol and two tylenol.

I certainly can relate.
Two buildings: 36 x 48 and 40 x 50.....both full!

Gave my 23' 225HP fishing boat to my boys....it is stored HERE.
Gave 16' boat to one boy.....it is stored HERE.
Same boy bought another 16' boat to pond ski with....it is stored HERE.
Gave one boy my 2000 perfect Caddy.....it is stored HERE.
One boy has a dump trailer .....it is stored HERE.
One boy bought Jeep....it is stored HERE.
Gave one boy my old Ford F-250 4x4.....it is stored HERE.
One boy uses space to store his excess roofing construction materials.

The remaining space is left for storage of MY major collection of vehicles, equipment, and stuff!
It is a tight fit!

I hate when you can't get at anything without moving something else. It's why I built a long drive shed, with almost total front access. But stuff still manages to get double parked. Attachments are the worst.
