Price Check I Closed My Eyes and signed for a New Tractor

Just thinking about this. I hear this a lot on here and it seems to be pretty common for folks to sign for the tractor before it's final assembly/delivery etc. I've bought 2 tractors now from the same dealer and both times, the dealer didn't make me sign anything until basically the day or a couple days at most before it was ready to come home (with the exception of an attachment that had to be ordered and was delivered within another week or so of the tractor being prepped and delivered, rear wheels filled, etc. Guess I'm lucky.

Never bought a tractor from a dealer. I don't pay for anything until I receive it (well - other than orders from online retailers with a good rep).
Saves a lot of trouble.

But yea I agree I didn't sign anything untill the day they delivered it....why would I?

Why didn't you try Agri Credit or as I have been told lately they are now called something else but still in the business of financing equipment both New and Used. In years past when I didn't have a bank account that was as good they were always easy to deal with and could beat any local banks terms.

Around here it's called "Farm Credit".

They will do 60 months at 3.99% or 2.99% I forget but require 20% down.

I financed a used tractor threw a local bank, they did 72 months around 4-5%, with 20% down, I should know the exact rate but can't. I just watch it come out automatically every month.

New equipment, usually the manufacturer has the best rate.

Today at breakfast with a few friends I asked what they are now called and was told the new name is "DLL Financial"

Maybe it's diff companies we're talking about, I asked around when I was trying to buy my tractor and "Farm Credit" came up, I assumed it was similar to the company your talking about. It's a company that specializes in financing farm machinery, I had a hard time finding someone to loan me money against a used tractor.

I called around and asked for a tractor loan and 9/10 times they said they don't do tractor loans. Fairfield National that agreed on a 72 month term, I believe there more of a local bank, so they might be a bit more hungry than most. I basically had farm credit Home | Farm Credit Mid-America (20% down for 60) and Fairfield National Home - Fairfield National Bank (20% down for 72) to chose from.

I never did call the JD dealer to see if they would do a loan.

Edit: Fairfield National looks bigger than I thought.

I know one of the local banks will do loans on some used equipment. They are a smaller bank that still has local meetings where things like this would be decided. You would probably only really be able to be considered if your a long term customer and have a solid banking record with them as well as a strong credit score but at least knowing that you can still find a smaller bank that someone can actually do business with is somewhat of a comfort to me.
