I'm with kmdigital, my guess would be an H.

Thanks guys, I knew this group would be able to make the I.D! After doing some comparisons, it looks like an H to me too. The sloping axle certainly is distinctive. Here's a few examples of an H and an M I found on Tractorhouse. They're in a little bit nicer shape than the one on the cover!

Morning Guys,

Nothing important. Not even sure if this is the right forum for this, but here it is. I've been reading a book called 'Successful Small-Scale Farming' and there is a picture of a tractor on the cover. Nowhere in the book does it I.D the tractor, and the angle of the shot makes it difficult to tell what it is (at least for a novice like me). I've attached a scan of the cover.

Any ideas?
It's an H Farmall. The angle of the steering wheel and shaft give it away.

If you could see the right side of the engine it would be a very easy identification, as the H's have short oil filters while the M's have long oil filters.

My vote goes to the Farmall H :)

My Bad! It is most definitely an H. Now, I actually went back and looked at the original post. I think we probably have beat this Farmall to death. Does the original poster actually have a question about small scale farming with old iron? BobG in VA

Hmmm Am I the only one that thinks it has two different size tires on it.

Different size and different tread pattern.

This is apparently one of Farmall's early attempts at making tractors more suitable for sloping ground. You would just put the tall tire on the downhill side all the time.
