First I don't believe in bad car ma so I don't think my post in the rural living has anything to do with this. I am trying to clear about 3 acre. of thick but small/tall brush. Ocasionly I run over small logs that seem to make their way under the tractor and wedge on parts on the under side I have never had a problem just pull them out and be on my way. This week end i did it. I noticed the brake pedal on my 2001 tc40 gear driven would not depress I looked and sure enough a small chunk of wood was between the floor and the brake pedals on the underside. I pulled it out no problem but after doing so the parking brake would not engage. after some more inspection I noticed that the catch for the parking brake was hitting on the divertor valve that splits the hydraulics up to the laoder joystick. the whole diverter seems to be bent or at least the bracket. What I am looking for is pictures of how the diverter should sit and the bracket. It does not appear to have damaged the diverter but I may need to replace some of the piping for the loader as the lines looked a little out of sorts.(no leaks just curved on the ends) can anyone take a picture of their tc40 so I can see what it should look like under there?

Greenthumb, I think the diverter for the 3PH/Loader hydraulic systems is on the other side of the tractor. I believe the one on the left side might be the solenoid controlled valve for rabbit-turtle or maybe even the PTO diverter, but it really doesn't matter. If no one else responds before this evening, I'll try to get you a picture when I get home from work. That will be around 7 pm CST at the earliest.

Greenthumb, I've got three pictures for you. I have to admit a little embarrassment because my tractor is so dirty, but I've been doing a lot of work on my pond silt and it is dry and dusty here. Anything with the slightest hint or film of oil grows a "beard."

The first picture is looking straight up. The hydraulic valve is the solenoid controlled rabbit-turtle valve, so if you are having trouble changing hydro speeds, you will know why.

EDIT: OOPS! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I just re-read your post and you have a gear drive tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif All my talk about the rabbit-turtle switch must have you scratchin' your head. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Sorry!

Your brake pedals are on the right-hand side and clutch is on the left. My pictures don't help you one bit. Aargh! I have to start reading better. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Last one, from the back looking forward.

Let me know if I can help some other way. Good luck with your repair.

Jim, you have to be one of the most helpful people on TBN. I don't post often but have been reading TBN for the past 5 years. It seems anytime someone has a problem or even a question on the class 3 Boomers you unselfishly help in any way you can. I have a 5 year old NH 1920 and had the cold running problem and would like to thank you for all you did getting to the root of the problem (my dealer gave me a plastic clamp to go over the drain line). I just want to extend a hearty thank you from myself and countless others that you have helped. Bill Church

Bill, thank you very much for the kind words. Unfortunately, sometimes I am a little overzealous and fail to see a key statement (like Greenthumb's saying he has a gear tractor). I normally reread a post several times before trying to answer it, but I was just passing by my desk quickly when I read the original post in this thread and missed a key point. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

So is your 1920 working okay now? Hope so...

Well Jim, seeing the bottom of your tractor's deck makes me feel a little better about mine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif No not the brown "beards", but the bubbling paint on the metal of the deck. Mine started rusting and pealing within about 6 months, even though the tractor is stored in my dry pole-barn. Seems NH really did a poor job of preping that piece of metal. It's as if it's rusting from the inside out on mine and yours looks about the same. What do you think is going on?

Duane, I guess the operator's platform rusting is what makes me so happy that most of our "body" panels are fiberglass. I can only imagine that the non-"deluxe" tractors with no rubber floormat must have the same or worse problem with rust. You are right that the rust seems to start at the edges of the stamped holes and then spreads out under the paint like a metal cancer. It's almost as if the part was rusted to begin with and they just shot paint on top of it with no priming. Somehow, that would not surprise me. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif At any rate, it's sad to see such a shoddy job of preservation. It's peculiar that it seems to only be on the platform "wings" with the stamped holes. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think you two must have got the New Holland lemons of the bunch, we don't see any rust under ours. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

ok, OK there is some rust but not so much that I have fallen through the platform as of yet.
