I can escape. Texas is a good of a place 11 months of the year, if we could just skip August.........or leave Texas in August....

I am looking for 4 cool places to stay about a week each next Summer.

Where are your favorite places to escape the South's summer heat?
Thanks!

We love the mountains, so we go to a campground in Colorado for a week each year. However, this year we also sneaked in a trip to the Canadian rockies (Banff, Jasper national parks)

Northern Wisconsin. Cheap, no crowds, nice weather. If you like the outdoors, then you will like it too.

Don, the Black Hills of South Dakota is my alltime favorite place to visit in this country!!

You have Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. There are several Caves for exploring. Custer State Park is full of animals to see. Devils Tower is close by and worth seeing. Deadwood is a really neat town to visit and explore. Lot's of old west history. The Badlands are close by and very unusual. Plus there's all sorts of dinasour places and tourist attractions all over. A week wont be nearly enough to see it all.

If you went there, you would be in good positon to go to Yellowstone Park too. Cody is on the way and has one of the best museums I've ever been to. Plust there's an old log home town that the owner gathered from all over the west. Some of the saloons and buildings are quite famous. He bought them, disasembled them and re-assembled them there in Cody.

You could stay at each place two weeks and have the time of your life!!!

Cape May N.J. Make it a 4 week road trip guessing 4 day's to get there. Once your there you could sit back and suck in the sea breeze or take a party boat out in the bay or ocean and go fishing. Plenty of shopping for the misses and if she run's out in town she can take the ferry over to Del. and shop all she want's there(tax free just make sure you claim it on your income taxes:)). At night you can shoot 20 min north up the parkway and visit Atlantic City (don't stray off the beatin' path) or drive a little farther north and take a train into NYC. Or go see Washington D.C.(2hr drive the war memorial's are a must see). You could easily spend a month there and not do everything there is to do since southern N.J. is central to a lot of major cities and also the pocono's.

We did all those places last June... It was hot some days and rained ice balls other days.

My father, the original Harvey Lacey, is eighty years old. He has a place in Peoria AZ. But he loads up the motor home and spends May, Jun, July, August, September, and the first half of October in the mountains of northern AZ.

On occasion his galfriend will call when they come into town and find a signal to let us know all is okay.

I've just about decided that he not only taught me all I know about fences and gates, but he's showing me how to handle Texas summers too.
