Late to the thread. but I agree that I think its all about the chain angle.

You did mention the truck was lifted. So I assume it had some offroad tires as well. Lifted truck and strapped to the hitch would have made the truck lift up on the container at the same time as adding downforce to the rear tires to help them bite.

Tractor drawbars are low and I cannot imagine you had much chain angle to lift the container. Result is it was trying to bulldoze. Hitches are low for a reason....to prevent a wheel stand and backflip.

Not advocating you do it, but I'd venture a guess that if you chained to the tractor at the same height as the truck was chained, you would have had success.

Regarding previous keyboard issue: Shouldn't you use "uu" (a "double-u", get it?) as an equivalent substitute for a "w"?

..but why do we write a "double-u" (w) like it's a double-v ("vv"), but pronounce it as "double-u". :confused3: Freakin' Germanic languages!

-I was always amazed that it takes 3 syllables to pronounce that 1 letter?! ...and where do you hyphenate it?

First of all, I have a keyboard problem. The letter betveen the Q&E on my keyboard quit vorking so I vill use the "v".

Ve decided to move a 40' shipping container. 8K pounds. Ve chained to it a 5K tractor vith R4 tires. The tires dug in and spun.
Ve chained up a second 5K tractor vith 4x4 and R4 tires. Both tractors vith 6 R4 tires dug and spun.
Ve chained up a 1 ton chevy 4x4 and got it to move.

Ve had to unchain and reattach several times to pull in different directions to get it vhere ve vanted it.
During this ve found that ve only needed the chevy truck. Only one time vhen the container started ploving 2' of dirt did ve need to chain up a tractor.

So, my question is vhy did the chevy 4x4 out pull the 2 tractors?
The chevy is lifted vith vider M&S tires.

You'll get the best replies if you first go to Best Buy and pick up a $25 keyboard. Questions are usually difficult to answer if one can not decipher what the question was in the first place.
