JD 2320
My first post has to be a thank you to TBN for all the information and advice. I've been reading and researching for about a year now & made my first tractor purchase.

In December we literally traded houses (through an even up buy/sell) of a house in the suburbs to one in the country with 26 acres. We plan to move our horses out in May hopefully. The property we bought is mostly wooded with some trails, but has a nice 20x60 two-story barn with separate well and power, fenced in pastures, a nice manageable lawn, and two ponds. My idea of heaven.

To upkeep heaven, I went with a 2320 w/ 200CX loader w/53" bucket, 48" box blade, 54" MMM, w/front & rear worklights from one of two local JD dealers. Delivery next week since they had to order a couple of items and I worked in welding chain hooks and loading the rears with beet juice as part of the deal. I also picked up a nice used LX5 cutter to get the pastures under control. The dealer was great to work with and after all was said & done I ended up close to the 15% off that I wanted for the complete package. I waited until March 2, asked him about the new financing offers - which he didn't think were going to be as good - locked in the 48/0% with a faxed application and got the $300 JD cash to boot! Also got a filter pack & technical manual.

Like most of you, I agonized over going with more power in a 2520 w/ a 62d MMM, but I've got some close quarters for mowing in some areas and my pocketbook couldn't part with the few thousand extra for 2 more hp & quicker hydraulics.

Now I just have to decide between Pat's and the JD imatch.

Thanks again!

Congrats on the new purchase,
and welcome to TBN!

I wouldn't worry about not getting the
2520, the 2320 is a great tractor, and has
a nicer mower deck height adjustment you
don't get with the 2520.

As far as the hitch, I like the Pat's over
the Imatch, just in case the neighbor wants
to part with his landscape rake, or box blade,
etc, etc, etc.

good luck, and as always, post some pics!

:D

Moving from the burbs to your 27 acre heaven is a very nice move up! Congratulations

The smaller tractor is a good choice it will go perfectly with your next 4xxx or 5xxx tractor.:D

Don't bother with iMatch. Get the 27.5" wide Quick hitch from Harbor Freight. One third the price and no bushings needed. Works great with the Frontier box blades.

Steve - I like your thinking too. My wife was using the 2320 to knock over some 1-2" brush/trees with the loader & said "I think I would have gotten the next size up..."

& I thought I was pushing it buying the 2320. I can see a 4xxx down the road....
