A few hours is way too late. Drain it right now and check for metal particles. Dropping the oil pan would be even better. If there’s metal in it now you might get lucky and be able to change a few bearings or something cheap. After a few hours of running it with metal the engine is pretty toast.

Sure, drop the OIL, not the pan. Jeesh! Make work!

Look for metal glinting. After all, the oil was fresh and should be clean.

Expect some soot black, it's the shining silver that causes worry.

If you see much metallic crap in the oil, change the filter and put in fresh oil. Then worry....

If you don't observe any metallic swirls in the drained fresh oil. Count your lucky stars, and refill the sump. I would put the freshly drained oil right back in. IF it is metal free.

I was just looking at YouTube of how do drop oil pan but found nothing for Kubota. So I guess I will drain the oil again like suggested and inspect for metal shavings. Thank you for the suggestions! I値l start for there and wish for the best.

YUP! Hope for the best!

Dropping the pan is a LOT of messy work!

Illucidate

What engine harm comes from over filling a crank case by a quart. (25%) Compared to underfilling by 85%. ) Will the oil pump even pick up at a pint level?

I've never seen any mechanical failures due to high sump levels. (not that it happens often)

Can be a cause for runaway diesel engines.

If the level is too high the crankshaft will start hitting the oil and whip it into a foam. That foam has greatly reduced lubricating properties. At least that is what I had always heard. Whether one quart is enough to cause that to happen is an unknown.

Personally, I'd replace the oil filter, opening the old one up to see what's in the pleats...

Ok, when I poured the first 3 quarts out of the first gallon I kept checking the dipstick and was wondering why the dipstick was still clean. Still added another pint and then I realized that the drain was still unplugged. I plugged it back in and poured the last pint. And drove it about 30 feet for maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute, I don't know, I was driving slow bc I wasn稚 sure what to do when I saw the oil light ON. And then about 1 hour later I put about 3 quarts from the new one gallon jug I found. The dipstick level is right on the f??ull. I mowed about 1.5 hours later after I topped off the oil. Only about 10 minutes. I only needed to cut the grass really low to reseed some spots.

No, I knew that the oil tank capacity is about 3.3 quarts. Sorry I didn't make it clear earlier.

Why was he mad?

So I drained the oil this morning and strained with sock and put the oil back in. I found nothing in the sock. On the bottom of oil drip pan (I used clean 6 quarts container), all I found are these. They look like paint flakes. When I squeezed with my fingers they broke into smaller pieces. I don’t it’s sharp enough or thick enough to cause any damage. At least so I hope. What do you think?

And why the oil is dark already? Is it normal for diesel engine? Or was it because some of the old oil still left and got99BA2365-8286-46A2-A1BC-80628F09208F.jpegD94F33C2-7686-4C33-8F61-37AAF0F1CA6C.jpeg mixed in? Should I replace the filter?

It appears that your engine has faired well.

If you had not changed the filter previously, Now would be a good time.

Diesels make sooty black oil, and that soot sticks inside. darkening fresh oil immediately. Even just that little bit that doesn't drain out holds a lot of "lamp black" ;-) If the filter was not changed, there is a good amount of blackness in there as well.

I think your "low oil level damage possibilities" concerns can be put aside. "Just don't do that regularly" ;-)
