A final shot. I think the stain is actually a little darker than it appears in the photo...

Next step...put the plastic sheeting on the walls I guess...

Your barn/shed is looking great so far. I am waiting for the second installment when you decide to tear down the original shed to make one big shed. After all, you have already rebuilt just about the entire original shed /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif That dark stain looks good on there and does a wonderful job of making the building look like its been there for years. Take care.

Robert,

You know I was thinking along those lines today as I was brushing on that stain...

BUT...then I realized What I had was a multi-level shed, and that must be unique...the lowest level is the spring house floor. Then there is the ground level where the tractors will sit...

Above that is the floor of the original shed, which is on the spring house foundationi.

Finally the highest level is the loft floor...Now both the loft and the original spring house foundation floor has low clearance...but still...a double split level shed...must be unique in some way or another... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It is a nice shed no matter how many levels you have. Ours will have 3 when we are done. The lower 16' section sits 2' below the 24' section and there will be a loft above the 16' section for us to store our ladders, deer boxes and other bulky items.

Ah! We meet the lovely Kazuko at last...

Nice job, Bill, but you were supposed to paint it in cammo... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice job, Bill, but you were supposed to paint it in cammo...

I did that twice in my life, both were vans though...family tired of it pretty quick...said it made me look too 'Right wing..."

Actually, one uses different camo paint schemes according to the application...so in effect, I guess I did paint it "Inspector camo..." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yesterday I wasn't able to work a full day on the shed...did get some things done...this is how it looked when I went out this morning. I did get the plastic sheeting on the long side...kept the blowing rain out pretty good last night...that plastic is pretty clear and lets in almost as much light as the opening did without it being there.

Inside, the top of the short walls will serve as a shelf...the problem being that the plastic is so clear, a mess on top of the wall will be a mess for all to see from the outside.

Better clean up my act, I suppose. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

On the back wall I over built the cross beam [will support nothing but a little piece of filler wall] using 3 2x10s, just to match the beam that runs along the side wall.

The advantage of this is it gives me a place to hang things. I found some 1/2 by 10" carrage bolts at TSC I happened upon the other day, which had threads about half their lenght. Just perfect as hangers for chains and things...drilled that beam and bolted them in. If I find more like that I will put more in that beam. What is there are on 18" centers...like to put enough to have them on 9 inch centers...

I was one 8' piece of that plastic sheet short...I ended up doubling the overlap, as I did not want to add a mid support, so the used a little more that I had calculated...off to Lowes to get a final sheet and more mounting screws...

There is opportunity for something to drop in behind the top of that plastic sheeting, but with the roof overhang I doubt that any thing but the finest, blowing powery snow would find its way in there.

If it should become a problem, I can cover the tops of the plastic sheeting with a piece of 2x2...

I ended up putting a mounting screw in every other valley. this polycarbonate sheeting is really tuff, but it was a little floppy with only one screw every 5th valley...
