does JD still sell parts for this?. you said it needs rings..

There is a big parts community for the old GP’s. Parts aren’t as easy to get as going down to the dealer but thanks to FP and diff outlets, I can find what I need pretty quickly and have it shipped in.

Thanks. I gave $2500 for the GP, I’ll have $1000 plus in rebuilding the engine and some paint on the wheels. It needs new rubber, gone threw etc.

I’ll have more in it than it’s worth, you can pick one up in good shape and running strong for $3500. I found a few for less when I was trying to evaluate the tractor. I offered her what I was willing to pay and she accepted. Grandpa wanted 8k and that’s where she started at.

We also made a deal on grandpas MF 98, I have pics of that on here also. I was the only family member that wanted the tractors. MF has some stuck injectors on that 3-71 Detroit I’m still working on, then it should run.

I’m big into antique tractors, I got that “classic tractor fever” when I bought a house quite a few years ago.

I like rare and uncommon tractors, the GP isn’t rare but you don’t see many around and they only made 500 MF 98s so it’s harder to find one. Besides them being owned by my grandpa I really like both of them just for what they are. I would like to add a steam traction one day and maybe a cletrac crawler tractor and I will be satisfied with that collection lol. Maybe a Plymouth Silver King also lmao. I would pick up another MF98 given the chance. My grandpa owned 3 different 98s over his life. He farmed with a 98 in the 60s or 70s.

I guess I never did show this but I ended up picking up a 2 bottom plough to use with the GP. I haven’t used it yet but when I get the GP running good plan to participate in a few plow days.

Thanks, I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET HER REBUILT AND TAKE IT TO A PLOW DAY lmao.

I’m in line with a good tractor mechanic to get the GP in and have the engine rebuilt. Gonna have the wheels painted solo, maybe put new rubber on the front when I get it back. When he gets a few tractors finished he’s working on my GP goes in.

I haven’t had the money to do it yet, been pushing to get out of debt, sold the 4320 JD and some other stuff to pay off loans. Now I have money to put in the GP and MF 98.
