( Is it better to box blade the ruts level or put down topsoil and use the rake?? (got about 10 acres of ruts) )

With that beautiful healthy stand of grass, there probably isn't an easy answer. It will be difficult to cut it down with the box blade, and depending on how deep the ruts are, that is a lot of filling /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif, but the rake will help to level out the fill even with the tops of the ruts. If you are really serious about smoothing it out, you may need to consider rototilling and/or disking it a couple of times and then rolling it. From the looks of the grass stand, it should reestablish pretty quickly after disking or tilling. Good Luck!

Thanx for the info regarding the fill of those nasty ruts from a VERY large tractor. I have more than enough topsoil (3' deep) to go around after building the house, barn, and 400' driveway.

This land is very special as I just found out. It was owned by the Hanks family (the road is named after them). It has been hayed for over 100 years and I found out that one of the Hanks daughters was Abe Lincoln's mother. She is buried just below my property. I appreciate all your comments regarding this beautiful piece of land. It was a challenge looking for the right retirement spot. I think we succeeded. Thanx again! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
