I added 6 inches to a portion of the dam and seeded it with rye grass seed. I think I had a seep at the pipe running under the dam to a faucet in the pasture, as my front tire went down further, about a foot, in that area than any other area while packing the clay. My driveway now has a tilt around the dam. With new rain a few days ago, it hasn't shown any signs of seepage.:) The water level right now is about an inch below overflow. The white square in the water is a PVC pipe "feeding ring".;) The fathead minnows have been hitting bread and dog food in little schools around 5 pm every evening.:)

Brandi, your pond looks terrific.:) If it holds that water, you are set. What a lovely scene with the new green grass and the touch of fall color. Very pretty! Nice job also of building that terrace/berm and getting it seeded. I think you've made a big improvement.

Thanks Eddie!:) I just moved to the far corner of the pond for the photo. I haven't posted any photos showing the curve of the dam, the overflow pipe, and the pier together like this one.;)

Brandi, all our ponds are full and overflowing thanks to recent rain. The changing to fall colors was pretty spectacular this year, but only lasted for a short while because we had high wind that stripped the beautiful drying leaves off the trees. My neighbor came over to our property line and took a photo of the trees around our lake and one scene on the lake when it was like glass, giving a perfect reflection. I've posted them below.

Jim,
That is just sparkling beautiful!:)
I wish I had more room to do a bigger pond or lake.
Merry Christmas hugs, Brandi

Pond update................Friday morning brought 2 inches of rain and put Lake Marie in overflow. Friday night Luke pulled out 4 baby crawfish out of the overflow inlet and tossed them back into the pond.:) In between the freeze a few weeks ago and the freeze now, we had a few warm days that needed the air conditioner on in the house. Those days brought the Fathead Minnows up to the surface in one big school:cool: to feed on bread in the feeder square and on the bottom of floating leaves. When the sun was right, Luke said he could see the school of Minnows from his bedroom window.:D

Your pond looks great when its full! Nothing like having preferred critters in your pond and a overhanging deck.

Brandi,

Lake Marie looks amazing!!! You should be very proud of how it turned out, you did a fantastic job in both designing it, and building it.

Did you put the crawfish in there or did they just show up? I've thought about adding some to mine, but haven't committed to doing so. When digging mine, there was sign that they were already there in the mud, but I've never seen one or anymore sign since finishing it. I hear they are great for the bass, but don't know if it's something that I need, or want.

Eddie
