Well I wanted to Thank Everyone and let you know my luck has continued we did a job for Harbor Freight in our shop today and they always want to barter, the boss invited me over to fill a basket with anything I might need. I got an auto darkening helmet solar powered with battery backup, welding gloves, pair of welding goggles for helpers, 2-50 lb magnets, 2-75lb magnets, a haynes welding book(it ain't the greatest), chipping hammer, heavy duty welding cart with big wheels, adjustable 75lb magnet for angles that has two magnets on it, 2lb of 3/32 e6011 rods, 4lbs of 1/8 e6011 rods and three waterproof welding rod cases. All bartering against a $100 invoice from my print shop, not to bad of a deal. I can't wait for Saturday so I can open it all up and stick some metal together.

I've had one of these Lincoln AC/DC tombstones for a few years now and also like it. I run 6013 & 6011 1/8" rods as well as a tig torch. With a high frequency unit and Argon gas I can weld aluminum using the A/C. With D/C and argon I can tig stainless steel and regular steel.
The 6013 and 6011 are good all around rods and have a tensile strength of 60,000 lbs. The 6013 is easier to use and is pretty much self starting, gives a good appearance but the slag must be completely removed before rewelding. The 6011 on the other hand is much harder to start and control without sticking. It's good for welding rusty and painted steel and needs no slag removal before rewelding. This makes the 6011 great for welding up that rusty old plow. For building something out of new steel the 6013 is a better choice.
The 6013 is harder to learn vertical and overhead welds than the 6011.

Good Luck and Good Find.

Wow! What a SCORE! Congrats.

Sidebar: good choice getting the 6011 rod over other suggestions.

Homebrew2, Actually the reason for the 6011 was a easy choice and not some stroke of genius our Harbor freight is peed off at their vendor and has discontinued carrying any welding rods until they find a new vendor the two packs I got were the only 2 packs they had so now officially they are out. Its probably not any great rod either its imported from India as opposed to a US made rod. The welding cart just barely fit this model of the Lincoln welder but I wanted wheels so I can easily store it inside the welder weighs well over a hundred pounds and for a short fat old guy it was a pretty good umph to get it out of the car and up 6 steps into the house when I got it home last night. You guys would get a real laugh out of our house when I see all the beautiful manicured lawns and mansions that a lot of the TBN folks live in I carried the welder and cart inside the house and put it in our family/dining room which is already storing a 3 tier saddle rack and umpteen other things that you wouldn't find in most houses across america my honey just smiles and nods. Course I bought her a chain saw for mothers day last year at her request so we are officially made for each other after 26 years.

Thanks for the tip on sale. I like to buy things I might need or I want on sale even if I don't need it yet. Took me three stores to find one @ $309. It will set in shop for a while as I'll need to re-wire shop under ground power. Designed shop for wood working. Guess thats what happens when a city boy moves to the country and dosn't know about TBN

These welders are still available at a price of $309 if you can find them. I bought one last night in Olathe KS. They still had two left and the guy said he would even take another 10% off the display when all the boxed ones were gone.
He was even pushing me to buy a Lincoln generator/welder that he had there. Regular price $1100 something marked down to $799 and he all but said make an offer.
Just wish I had more time to play. Will get me some rods and strike an arc next week after the hookup is done.
Thanks,
James
