I give Up looking for a trailer.

Kinda my thoughts.

Dont really want to jump the gun and buy a trailer when prices are at their peak.

The fact that no one has trailer in stock and so many places are backlogged and when good used ones come up they are gone in hours.....tells me that there are LOTS of people buying trailers.

Pretty soon I would think the demand has to slow back down. There's only a need for so many trailers.

I was thinking about selling my dump trailer. I could probably get 10-11k for a trailer I paid 8 for but then if prices never come down I’d be stuck without a trailer. It’s not like I really need it anyway but I’ve been renting it for a dumpster.

I just got this off market place for $5500. I’m pretty happy with the deal. That’s pretty close to retail last year but now that’s a $9,000 trailer. View attachment 704561

Pretty sweet.

I have pretty much given up but will look again this fall. I like the Michigan trailer sales 20,000 GVWR trailer, but it looks like they don’t offer full width “monster ramps” as an option.
I need full width ramps to load smaller equipment like big zero turns and my F3680, but also want to haul 4x4x8 square bales or a skid steer, so I need a HD trailer, but the full width ramps filled with wood. NOT dirt shedder ramps, like on my Kaufman gooseneck

I was in the same situation - was thinking of selling my 18' Hudson. But then my BIL solved my dilemma. He needs to clean out an overstuffed 30x40 shed. I offered him the use of it. So he piled it up about 6' high and parked it in my shed.

You are a very nice person!

I sold a trailer a few weeks ago that I bought brand new 6 years ago. It was starting to rust pretty bad and and had other typical wear and tear. I looked on FB to see what they were going for and couldn't believe it. I listed it for what I paid for it and had it sold within an hour of listing it. Couldn't believe it.

That a really interesting design, especially with the truss spanning the length of the C-channel under the frame.

I am glad I bought my tilt deck and tractor in 2019. The tractor has increased in price a lot. The trailer manufacturer went out of business due to retirement. And that was the only trailer I wanted as the left fender folds down to allow the door on my Corvettes to open. I got my dump trailer in early 2020 right at the beginning of Covid. It was on sale. They had 6 of them in stock. I went there the morning the sale started. 2 were already sold and by the time they got my tarp and spare tire installed the rest were sold. I have not seen any advertised sales on trailers since. And the dump trailer is 2 grand more than I paid now. 1500 more than the non sale price.

Prices now are insane. A deck over equipment trailer average length with 8 k axles and monster ramps is 11-12k +.
If you want to order it, you make save a thousand, but have to wait 1/2-1 year.
By then, who knows what we may be facing….lockdowns, economic collapse?

Been looking for a drop deck 24-26' 14k gooseneck trailer for awhile now. Dont really "need" one as my dual tandem 25' works fine. Just wanted to upgrade to newer, lower deck for easier loading, and less weight/better mileage since I have no need for a 24k trailer anymore.

Started looking last year for a good used one....and the ones that I saw never lasted long before sold.

In April this year I was exhausted looking for a used trailer or even a dealer that had a new one in stock that fit the bill. So I was ready to bite the bullet and order a sure-trac exactly what I wanted. Was told $7300 but the hold up was 25-26 week lead time.

I figured April is just starting my busy season, and if I was gonna wait 6 months for a trailer....I might as well wait til fall and have my wait time over the winter (all the while hoping one would come up for sale reasonably).

Seems they keep getting fewer and farther in between and the ones that I do see keep going up in price. So I though screw it I am ordering the suretrac.

Welp....thats out again.....price in just two months has gone from $7300 to $8700 With no guarantee on price and that it is subject to go up even more but not to exceed 5%. So that kinda tells me Id be looking at ~$9300.

Ive been following steel and lumber prices and havent seen ANYTHING in the last two months that would warrant another ~25-30% price hike? What gives? IS this just MFG's getting greedy now?

I think Im just gonna wait til market corrects and comes back into check.
Check out these folks: Kaufman Trailers | Equipment, Gooseneck, Car, Dump Trailers

I do not work there and I am not affiliated with them. I have bought a utility trailer direct from them. They are easy to work with.
