After I made all of the calls to family and the banks and even another contractor (who I am sure will chime in here soon) it is time to let all of my buddies here on TBN in on the good news. Two days ago I got a call that I think will change my life. I am the proud awardee of a little ole 2952 acre mulching contract! After the excitement wore off I thought "holy cow I gotta clear almost 3000 acres in the next year!"
The new member of the mulching team will be a Barko 930 with an FGT 9021 head with dual 160cc two speed motors. She has not even left the factory yet so it will be late July to mid August before she joins the stable. The job is out in Prescott, AZ.
I also want to take the time to offer a very public THANK YOU to a major factor in not only my recent success but I am sure a lot of other contractors success as well. Since I do not think I am a special case I will assume that Fecon treats all of us mulchers the same. From the CEO of the company down they have bent over backwards (and some may say forwards too) to keep my machines in the woods and running. With the updates to the 140 and the just plain sweet design of the 148 they have enabled me to build a good reputation as a contractor, and because of that reputation I have been awarded this contract. It has not been easy and I have struggled a lot and things got pretty lean for a while but I think I am on the right road now.
Wish me luck guys and I will keep you posted on the job, machines and progress. I will not even be getting started for almost two months because of the fire risk in the area.
