I like to keep up with your work on this forum. I hope it works out great for you.

(Unfortunately we lost about a third of the trees you cleared around for us during a severe storm in May. We had 42 big 50 yr+ pecan trees get snapped off or pushed over in a 100 yard wide strip right through the area you worked on. Up until then I was thinking the work would end up paying for itself this fall.)

That great news that you were able to land a job that big. what type of clearing will you be doing and on what spices and is that private property or fed. just wanted to know because NM is next door. And always willing to help a fellow mulcher out.

I finally got started on this big ole job. The first day was a bust because they started me in an area that we did not see on the tour. I was actually about to run to NM and get the 148 when they decided to move me. The area has very large and tightly spaced ponderosa and the Barko did not fit! They moved me to a new area that was much more open and I was only able to clear 17.149 acres today working from 7 AM to 3 PM. Once I get the smaller machine here too I will easily knock out 20/day. WOO HOO, I love monster machines!

That's awesome. I'm looking for one of those tigers as well. 17 acres in 8 hours.... is the barko that fast or is the clearing that easy? Fuel reduction or total clearing?

Fish,

Yes to both of your questions. The Barko is that fast and it is pretty easy small brush. I am having to bring out the 148 also because as it turns out there is quite a bit of large timber on the job that keeps the Barko from moving around as good as it could. As the job progresses I will be moving towards wide open country with only 10-20 leave trees per acre. When I get there I will be able to really make some progress. Right now I am stuck doing what I can find on the flats and then next week the 148 will tie all of the areas together. On track to get a full 200 acres done in the first two weeks though!
