I have the Lincoln 12v and I like it. It beats using the lever type manual gun I have hanging on the wall.

I found a couple good sellers on ebay that sell the manual and 12v lincolns you pointed me to. I have heard great things about Lincoln.

The manual 1134 is probably all I need as the only thing I am greasing is my tractor and the odd implement. After shipping (USPS) + brokerage + GST/PST it works out to ~$85 or about $35 bucks more than the equivalent NAPA gun that I ended up buying.

I'm tempted to return the NAPA one since I had poor luck with the last one of these I had breaking the plastic handle tab thingy... But man $85 is a heck of a lot to pay for a manual grease gun!

I'm going to stop by my local hydraulic store to see if they carry the Lincolns by any chance.

Gotta love how we get hosed on the shipping and border up here eh?

Napa may have the 1134. I cant remember if i saw it there. I bought mine at Acklands Granger. $39.97 :D I think i paid around 30 when i bought it. Their part No. LNC1134. Check your local bearing places like Kinecor as well.

They also got the 1242 $273.97 Amazon has it for $125:eek:

I have a Lincoln 1163 that works well enough. Occasionally it takes a bit to get it to feed from a new new tube but overall it works fine.

Here is a web site for MacNaught grease guns,I actually sold them for a few years here in Canada, they came with a 5 year warrenty:). Provided that the customer used grease in plastic tubes or bulk full we had very few complaints. The old type cardboard tubes casued a few problems as the rubber plunger would catch on the ridges. If anyone is interested I will find a Canadian dealer and post...haven't the time right now to look up.... The only issue that I had is the price, they are expensive,I have had a K32 for 7 years and hasn't caused me problems yet.

We have Acklands Grainger up here but when I went there once to buy some stuff they turned me away and said that they would only sell to businesses !

I am told that Fastenal is much easier to deal with and there are a couple stores around here. I'll call and find out what they carry. They seem to have the Lincolns when I searched on their US website.

Oldtrout the k32 looks exactly like the lincoln 1134

Canoetrpr the trick to Acklands is to look like you belong there. lol. I usually just pick one of my favorite local businesses to use and give them that name when they ask. They dont really check. basically just need something to fill in the box on the invoice.

Yes I must agree Scooby, however the MacNaught is made in Australia, and if I recall the Lincoln is made in the USA..

Grainger it is going to be. Their catalog says that they carry the 1148 - lever style and 1134 - pistol style. Both around $40 to $45.

I'm tempted to get the 12 V one shipped to a friend in the USA for free and to have him ship it via. regular USPS..... but hey - I grease about 15 zerks every month or so.

Oldtrout My 1134 was marked as made in India. These days its hard to know where exactly anything is made.

canoetrpr Good luck with the purchase. I know Acklands can be a PITA regarding who they sell to.

I too have the napa one- hate it for the same reasons. I'd rather use a manual one than it. Now that I have a tractor with lots of zerks, time to drak them out and reload them

Typical Grainger snotty attitude. Fastenal is more friendly to us lowly homeowner types; but they don't have the selection of Grainger. Do you have a Canadian division of MSC Direct? I've had good luck with them. Does McMaster-Carr have a Canadian division? I buy a lot from them.

You guys in the states really have it good when it comes to mail order. You have MSC, Mcmaster, Amazon and others..Free shipping and 2 day deliveries :D Up here mail order seems to be in its infancy compared to down there.

I guess McMaster wont even ship to consumers in Canada anymore:mad: One of the main issues with shipping from the states is brokerage and other fees/duty at the border. Its not uncommon to see a $30 brokerage and other fees on a $10 order:eek: Especially with UPS, who seems to be the carrier of choice.

KBC tools would be our equivalent to MSC, but they dont have the same selection. Acklands is good, but you get the attitude. And fastenall might have a better attitude, but has fewer locations

Try the HF cordless grease gun. Simple, fast, and inexpensive. The trigger setup leave one hand free to find those zerts and hold the hose in place.
Oh, and read the directions. Twice.

So much for NAFTA making North American trade easier.

Our local equivalent of HF is Princess Auto. Most stuff is exactly the same as on HF. There is probably one design of a 4x6 metal bandsaw that the Chinese make!

The cordless grease gun is like $59 bucks CDN. To be pretty honest, I shy away from buying anything that I would not want to throw away from there. It looks el cheapo. Is it really decent?

For the price - it is a steal compared to the Lincoln.

I have found that if you can get a vender to send stuff via USPS the hit is not so bad. Canada Post only charges like $5 to "clear" the goods and then GST/PST on top of that.

ECHO to that!

I have done a fair bit of Ebay dealings and will only buy from vendors that ship USPS/Can Post.
The others simply add on and add onto the add ons.
With CanPost everything that is $20.00 cdn comes in FREE!
Over $20. is a mere $5.00 fee + actual taxes (without disbursment fees and taxes on the fees)

I simply refuse any other shipping methods.

Hint, aften items slightly over the $20.00 limit will often be passed for free as well. (but don't count on it)

Also items under 4 lbs by postal surface mail are really cheap to import.

I must have read the wrong sign while at the Princess Auto store. The $59 is for an air powered grease gun. I see a 18V no name cordless gun in their catalog for $160 or so!

I try to avoid PA's Power Fist stuff for most electrical things unless its a one time use kinda thing or something they cant screw up like a hammer:D. $160 for that gun, id likely order the lincoln from amizon and deal with the crappy shipping charges. It would end up costing pretty close to the same.
