At least you like good music /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif.........
This is just a repeat of most of what's been said, but I've had bosses/teachers that are blind, that aren't in touch, and that makes things seem hopeless. In that case, keep doing the right thing, because that is what defines character. People say "team sports develop character" - I disagree, they reveal it. As others have already said, you are entering the big game of life.
There are plenty of people who are in touch, and they see character, and they reach out and take care of those people. After I reacted badly to a very similar situation to yours in a business setting, with a selfish/blind boss, I had my "eyes opened" and started moving in positive directions. All kinds of people came "out of the woodwork" to help, encourage, and move me along. They were ready & willing to invest in a good person, not a bad one. I needed to define myself properly. One thing that will set you apart: try to avoid the temptation to complain - acknowledge the truth (so & so isn't doing what they should), then move on without "chewing up" the person. That graciousness will further define your character.
As I was reminded in my situation years ago, I also now can't help but be reminded of a person who had it much worse: His name was Joe, and he was a good worker, made his brothers jealous, got thrown in a well, sold to slavers, became a very good servant, got accused of rape, thrown in prison, became a very good prisoner, helped the king, and was put in charge over the harvest of the entire nation of Egypt. Then he forgave his brothers and helped his family (Genesis 37- 50), as well as saving a nation from famine.
You're on an anvil, Nathaniel (ain't he, W-Harv?), and heat n' pressure will shape your character. Keep checking back with these old dudes, and that'll have some effect, too. Hang in there, buddy.
