My concern is accidentally finding another nest, I need a bee detector...
The nests in the ground are very hard to spot. Does anyone have any information on what an undisturbed nest looks like, is there a mound, do the bees frequently fly in and out. How close can you get before they start swarming.

OK, I broke down and bought a bee suit off ebay $60, now I feel I can stand my ground, (literally) and get rid of these suckers....

Not bees, but wasps...

I was moving a barrel we always put a target up on to sight in a new rifle and when moving, I was busy looking for a copperhead underneath it. Drug it out while buddy was holding the targets on stakes/pizza boxes and he says calmly...."Wasp" followed one second later by "RUN!" He swatted them with the boxes, but they zapped me. Three of them got me before I could turn the haullazz on. Went to the truck, chewed up a cigar (tobacco) and applied to each sting. I'm not really that allergic to them, but I thought I could remember the stings swelling up more than they did this time. One got my left thumb (which just had stitches removed from a motorized razor knife incident....that was pretty nasty) and the others got me on the belly at the waste line (I had my shirt off) and my back shoulder blade. After shaking it off, we fired about 25 .270 rounds through their house (the barrel) :) Doubt I killed any, but I'm sure their little heads were ringing!

I parked my ATV on a nest and we were sitting talking when my hand started to tingle. I looked down and had 10 on my hand. I freaked out screamed and floored my quad which made the shift function not work ( hands rancher). I had to wait a few seconds(felt like hours) and took off from there. I could not get out of bed the next day. Counted 32 stings. Worst day in a long time

Seems to me I heard, or read somewhere that they are attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale and attack based on that ........ I could be wrong but I'd rather be unstung holding my breath and looking a bit foolish for it than stung by the little buggers. I got stung earlier this year and my whole hand was numb for about 3 days ........ hated it.
