I have found the perfect tractor

The Kubota L3400 falls somewhere between the 303x e series Deere and the 3x20 series. It weighs a little less, but has more HP (35 HP, 28.5 PTO). The hydraulics are not as strong as the 3x20, but stronger than the 3032e. It costs more than the 3032/3038, but cheaper than the 3x20 series. For 2-4K less, I can live with mechanical hydro. I can get a couple more implements for the same money.

Was also going to stay out of this as well but the same comparison can be made that the 3520 falls somewhere between the l3400 and l3940 (pto hp being very close on the 35 and 34 but in terms of features). Both are fair statements just different. Between Kubota and Deere there will probably never be an apple to apple comparison both companies design product gaps between makes for a reason, to seperate themselves from the competition. There will always be an orange in the apple mix (pun intended)

So no, I do not like the Deere dealers at all.

Perhaps you should have stated this more clearly in your first post, it would have saved a lot time. Enjoy your new Kubota I'm sure it is the best tractor --- for you.

Beware of the 'jerky hitch' on the L3400. Search around in this forum for lots of info. I would insist on a quick attach bucket (SS compatible). L3400 does not have rear remotes either.

I suggest looking at other brands (montana, kioti, etc) if nothing else they will give you an idea of what the competition offers.

Any tractor with a hydraulic pump can basically have rear remotes. The L3400 is available from the dealer with rear remotes, shows it right on the Kubota website. Don't know anything about JHS or jerky hitch syndrome, sounds like an operator issue. I know that the HST is as smooth as silk. Deere hands down has the best color in my opinion. :)

I guess the main reason I came on here was to get insight into the differences into the tractors, or why I should spend $4K more. The only answers I have got have been vague. No one has yet to offer up anything better than "drive them both", or I had a cousin who's Kubota was in the shop for two weeks. Etc.

I offered advice to buy the best you can for what money you have to spend, and said that is what I did and I think it worked well for me.

No doubt in my mind that Orange makes some great machines, go for it. I will add that the JD 3x20 series tractor is a great machine in Green and I am happy with my purchase, but if I had found an Orange that met my needs for $4K less, my avatar would be different.

I guess i'm not seeing the $4000 diff here. Both machines are within a couple of hundred here. Kubota makes good stuff.... but, the 3320 IS a nicer machine. I have been on both and would not have a problem forking over a couple grand extra IF I had to.

Agreed, brother! Hate to sound biased, but I guess I am (a little). It's just so clear to me after trying out numerous machines of both makes - the Deere's are just so much nicer in every way. Again - to the eye of the beholder - but I too would pay a premium for Deere IF I had too......

I looked at compact tractors for a couple of years before purchasing a JD 3320 about a year ago. Not being a farmer, I was surprised by the attitute and reception of some dealers. Some seemed to care less that I was at their business and interested in purchasing a tractor. Salesmen never came out when looking at tractors on their lots and going inside was about the same way. You usually had to ask the parts person if you could talk to a sales person. Very different from automobile and truck dealers. I purchased my 3320 from a non-JD dealer who specialized in used Deere lawn tractors and cut's. Brought a "like new" 3320 with 300cx loader, e-hydro, rear remotes, 150 hours for $1K less than the dealer quote for a new Kubota L3400 with same equipment. I continue to be pleased with the choice I made. JD dealer is 1/2 mile from my home with friendly parts people and overnight delivery of parts. I have not had any closeup experience with Kubota's but wanted to point out, as others on this forum have, that there may not be that great of price difference between JD & K.

Thanks for the info. And I agree about the JD Dealers. They are not very eager for my business.

The 3320 is definitely a great little machine. The only drawback is that the HP is a little low (25ish at the PTO). If I did go with Deere this would probably be my choice.

I am getting the $4K difference like this: JD 3520 300CX loader=~24K. KUB L3400 with loader=~18.5K. That is actually $5.5K difference.

One of the BEST things about Deere is the parts! I LOVE the online parts lookup/pricing/ordering. You can order parts right on my computer when I want them. And I know the price right away. I don't have to wait till some dealer is open. I have never waited more than 2 days for ANY deere part. Just order by noon and they will be waiting at the dealer the next day for me to pickup on the way home from work.
