I hoped too soon -- spring delayed!

My lawn seeds down, tress are done blooming, the Quercus Kellogi are fully leaved and I need to mow badly. I have grass 2 feet tall in some places. It's been a little chilly though at 73 degrees during the day. This morning is extra cold at 56 degrees.

Not to be a downer Pete but ......... if y'all were truly self sufficient, you wouldn't need to get the water from work. Sorry. Don't mean to be the realist. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate your solution! I'm glad it's working for you and I hope the pipes thaw soon.

Alright, that's it! Just out of spite I will be filling the tank from the half-frozen stream up the hill, then trucking it home. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The line -- as I discovered last year with the backhoe -- is very shallow. Less than a foot deep across the meadow. To keep it from freezing we've kept a trickle flow going into the cistern, with the overflow hitting the septic field. Been that way forever. But this year I stopped plowing snow (primarily) with the Kubota and switched to the heated comfort of my Chevy pickup. Being as how I can now plow without freezing my vulnerable body parts, I've been doing a great job of moving the snow. So good, it seems, that I pushed back that wonderful insulating layer of snow that in years past kept the line from freezing! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Pete you are far more self sufficient than I am!! My solution is a big honker generator..... but that's just a pseudo self sufficiency.... I'm still a slave to the gas pumps. Anything to keep the family safe and warm in tough times is the right solution. You got it knocked brother!!
