Man, what a bummer! It was hardly off of the flatbed and the wife says either it goes or I have to! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I told her I bought her a Benz, but I think she had her heart on something a little smaller! Its a real "rot box" and I don't even know if it runs! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif But it was well worth the little money that I spent on it. It came with 6 new, never mounted tires! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif It got too dark to take anymore photos, have to take some in the morning, if I'm still allowed in the house! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Von, One thing I've learned is that you will never pass up a bargain!

What would you use it for? Starting a new business?

Buck, Have no use for it, Just always wanted one since I was a kid with a matchbox of a Unimog! It won't even fit in the barn to work on it! This thing stands 9' tall! I can shave a foot off the top by taking the light cage off of the ROPS. It might fit then. The thing has not been run in 5 years, but it does turn over, so I am hopeful. Only has 20k on the speedo and the hour meter reads 3386. So I will change the oil and give it a try! Maybe in the morning, if you hear alot of noise from this way, its only me! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've heard Marvel Mystery oil is good for sitting engines to help loosen them up. Normally on a gas engine that has been sitting it's no problem. But a diesel has very little space for any liquids on top of the piston. Maybe a squirt or two to help loosen things up on the top end. BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUT TOO MUCH.
I'd bet your fuel system is in dire need of attention unless someone drained it prior to storage. Diesel will gel if left too long. Anyway, post more Mog pictures. They sure look fun.

Make sure to post something as soon as your wife gets tired of looking at that old raggedy scrap heep. I can be there in a matter of a few hours to save your marriage. Just say the word. That is an awesome find. How much does that thing weigh? I think it will ride on my 10000lbs trailer just fine.

George, I want to thank you for helping me in getting the Unimog, and my wife would like a work with you as well! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Although her feeling are not quite the same as mine! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Now she has to look at it! She asked me "what will the neighbors think" I told her the men will love it, and the woman will call it a junk yard! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I think I'll try and put her Jeep Grand Cherokee body on it, and let her drive it!
It made it home just fine, only found a few parts that fell off and laying on the flatbed from the ride home! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But nothing that can't be fixed!
