Okay, It's a nice day and most of the snow has melted and the ground seems firm enough. So before dinner I want a little seat time and decide to go mulch up some of the leaves I didn't get in the fall. Well i'm mulching away and everything is going fine. The new tractor is operating flawlessly, up and down the small hills i have on my property everthing is great. Life is good. ANd then it happens...I go to make a turn and the back wheels sink to the axle in an area that got dug up last fall so the township guy could inspect the septic system. (It was fine by the way.) The RFM is sitting on dry land the fronts made it over the mud but my back wheels are Buried deep. Oh no! it's stuck and the suns going down quick. I try to use the loader to pull myself out but it's no use. Go get the shovel and some wood. Start digging no help. I have to unhich the RFM and dragit away as it was too heavy and kept sinking the wheels deeper. So finally after an hour of futzing I finally got it out with no damage except to my pride. WHo here has gotten their tractor stuck??? I seem to think it must be a right of passage for every tractor newbie to get their tractor stuck.

I think the RFM was to mulch the leaves.
I got mine stuck in the front yard, where the leach bed went bad one year. All kinds of black water all over the place. Well, to make a long story short, I thought it was solid enough to drive over.......it wasn't. It sinks.........and the surroundings STINK
Thankfully I had a winch to hitch up to the rear of my truck, pulled in AWAY from the black lake, tromped through the muck to hook it up, got it out.
Then the next day a co-worker who lives nearby started laughing as soon as I walked in the door........I knew then that he saw what happened.

I was working at the hunting club this past fall with my BX2200 with Turf Tires, one part of our land is new pine timber that floods easily. My buddy decided to mow some shooting lanes through the high brush. He got his big John Deere stuck up to the rear axle. One of the members tracked me down and asked me to come try to pull him out.

Whats funny about this is I got stuck 4-5 times just trying to get to him!! It was embarrassing to get towed out by a ATV! but oh well, couldnt pull him out but it was fun trying!

Note: finally used a chain wrapped around his rim/axle and let it pull it self out slowly.

I hate to admit it but I pulled a real bonner right after I purchased my L3010 last summer. I was trying to dig some gravel that had washed from my drive out of a ditch. I ran my FEL into the gravel and got a really big load and thought this is going to work great. When I picked up the load the front wheels disappeared and I could not get out even after unloading my bucket. There my new toy was stuck head first down in this ditch. I had to call my neighbor and he brought over his big Ford and pulled me out. They can all get stuck, even with four wheel drive.

What! Get stuck?

Never never but perhaps there may have the odd time other accesories had to be attached to complete the job at hand.

A buddy of mine and I are probably the only guys in history to get a tractor stuck while putting shingles on a roof. I put the starter strip and first 2 rows of shingles on the roof standing on a pallet on my forklift attachment. Much safer than getting than working on the roof that close to the edge nose down. The ground was frozen at 9:30 when we started. It was soup at 11:00. Buddy was having serious problems getting around. Didn't help that I was standing 10' in the air /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. After getting down out of the sky, I was able to get it out under it's own power.

Pretty cool to get stuck putting on shingles. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm painting a second floor porch railing today using a scaffold I made with two pallets. I'll try not to do the same thing - we got 2.5" rain on Thursday and it's STILL wet.

I got one of those stinky ones. Last summer I was mowing with my old L-3710 and a rear mount 72" finish mower in the side yard. I drove over the lid for the septic tank just like I'd done at least 50 times before. However this time, the rear tires on the 3710 went right through the lid. She dropped right down on the axle case. I got off and surveyed the damage while holding my nose. It took my 350 Ford Diesel 4 wheel drive and a chain and some serious pulling to get it out. Needless to say, first stop was the pressure washer. I didn't know it, but my wife watched the unfolding saga from the bedroom window. I took a lot of razzing over it. I replaced the lid with a piece of 1/8" diamond plate steel, strengthened it with 2 x 2 angle iron and covered it over with dirt. I'm sure it's plenty strong now. My new 5030 will not fall prey to the tank, I'm going to buy a SMALL riding mower this year /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
