Tom,
It may have been my thread here. I used to drive off with the brakes engaged all the time. I only set them hard enough to keep the Yanmar from rolling away, but it was not enough to keep it immobile when applying the throttle.

Yep, that's exactly the one I was thinking of. Didn't realize it was over 5 years old. Wow, how the time flies when you're having fun!

Hard to believe I've had this addiction for that long :D

How about coming up with a design to blow the horn when the brakes are locked and the clutch is engaged?

I have done it several times myself. Dang it ticks me off when I do. I like the red velcro Idea. I keep a bungie cord wrapped around the fender handle which I use to hold the top link up sometimes. I think I will hang that on my steering wheel when I apply the parking brake as a reminder.

But then the horn will blow whenever you get off the tractor with the brakes on

I like your principle, but I think it would need to know the position of the gearshift and this would get complicated.

If you try to take off with the brake on on any of our tractors, you notice it.

Opps...I did not say it right. I meant the horn would blow when the brake lock lever was engaged and the clutch pedal was depressed. i. e. you get back on the tractor and depress the clutch to put the tractor in gear..then the horn would sound if the brake lock lever is in the lock position.

Good idea Pird, and it would be fairly easy to set up.

whew, sounds like a LOT more trouble than it would be worth, in my opinion--and just something else to break. Just put the brake on hard enough that there is no doubt that it is on when you put it into gear.

Mine is set up so that the sqeeking of the breaks reminds that I left them set.
