I lost the track on my Komatsu. How do I fix this?

I went back out there. No relief hole. Maybe I just got a blob of grease on the threads when I pulled the Zerk out. I think I may have to remove the two small bolts and the lock plate. Then open that 27 mm nut some more

The number 6 nut is the really big one that goes around the whole thing. You definitely don’t want to loosen that one. The correct bolt is possible labeled #3 but it looks more like the pointed one that lays between #1 and #3 that’s not labeled. The one that has the grease fittings in the end is the one that needs loosened. It looks like it already has been loosened some and lost a little grease. Maybe remove the bracket that’s encasing it and remove it completely if the tensioner still won’t go back. You shouldn’t have to remove the bracket though. If it’s backed up as far as the bracket will allow it should let the tensioner go back. This is a picture of the bolt that holds the grease in. View attachment 983200

Yes, that is the one that I am going to get loosened some more tonight. Have to take that bracket off.

4x would be a blessing. I pulled that larger bolt out and pushed against the front track and idler with the bucket. Nothing g at all. No movement. So next , I guess I can get a log around 405 feet long. Grab it with the thumb and bucket and push a little harder against the idler. If that doesn’t work , I guess I have to pull the idler out and see whats wrong with it. Maybe take it to a shop. Probably the place I bought the excavator, and have them do something with it. One step at a time. It will probably be a few days before I can mess with it again.

I feel bad for. the frustration you are facing. It is the unknown that leads t the aggravation because you don't know where the finish line is.

I tried pumping grease into the hydraulic cylinder of the idler a few days ago. I could hear it building pressure and it became impossible to pump more grease. But it didnt move the wheel. Today I removed the valve and lifted the excavator up and pulled the track to the side and pushed on the idler wheel and got nothing, so I pulled the idler out and put it in my truck. Gonna take it in tomorrow in hopes that they can repair it. Being down has put quite a kink in my plans. But I’m working on it.

I drove into the Valley with the Idler assembly. The guy was nice. Told me if they can pull it apart and it isn’t bent, they can rebuild it for $650 unless it’s a real bear to tear apart. Said if I can get it apart the seal kit is $250. I brought it home and tried to get track cylinder arm out. Put it between tractor and pickup truck and was cranking on it with 4k lb come along. Absolutely no movement. Tried pumping grease into it also. Nothing. With that big spring, I’m not keen to beat it with a sledge or put a bottle jack in there and get stupid. I’m gonna suck it up and see if I can find a bigger shop in richmond that has a press that might be able to break it free. Big nut is undisturbed. I’m not trying to get hurt. I have a short list of shops to call tomorrow to try to find one to handle it.

I surfed around and found Conequip.com. Called them and they had the part for $850. Free shipping. Estes truck just left. I have fence to build this weekend so I will probably be picking at this here and there truing to get the nuts loose and separate the old one. Then next weekend, go after the rebuild.
