Last night I had an experience that reinforced my belief that I made absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt the correct decision in buying a 2320 over anything "smaller".
A friend of mine picked up some HoofGrid for me and I went over to pick it up with my truck. HoofGrid is a plastic grid system used to create mud-free areas for horses. There was a lot to unload so I brought over my loader forks because my friend has a tractor -- a JD 2210. I figured since the stuff was already on pallets, using the tractor would make things go much faster. My share was only 20 sheets, which was probably about 350-400lbs. The 2210 was able to pull the skid off the truck ok, but I felt so unstable. It had loaded rear tires, but I had that light and airy feeling in the tail. I was able to move the load from truck to truck but the 2210 seemed to be working awfully hard and I moved VERY slowly since the ground was uneven. Knowing about what the load limit was, we slowly unloaded the rest of the grid and stacked it on the ground.
While the 2210 is a good machine (and I'm sure the 2305 as well), I am so glad I got the 2320 instead. I move things around on pallets all the time (blocks, concrete, firewood, plants) and I don't think the 2210/2305 would have been enough tractor. Aside from the lifting limit of the FEL, the physically smaller size of the tractor just felt wrong. Sure, it would have been more stable with a ballast box, but I do similar tasks with my 2320 w/o a ballast box and don't feel that unstable.
Not that I had any real doubts before but this seals the deal. The 2320 is the perfect machine for me
